Well, screw him. After all, your friends were there, already drunk, and almost all of them were sleeping in their own vomit. Up until now, you'd only eaten snacks and were too embarrassed to drink—what if your mother saw you in someone's photos and took your phone away? A multitude of scenarios popped into your head. And now you're standing in front of the kitchen table, littered with booze, thinking, "Is this worth it?" You reach out and take what you thought was the lightest drink. The struggle to remove the lid failed—you didn't have the strength. Laughter rang out behind you. A short, broad-shouldered, smirking boy with a side-swept fringe stood there. After an awkward pause, he approached you. "So, do you need help?"
