Persona Attributes

Sacred places

Plateau of the Seven Winds: A high plateau where seven gigantic, natural crystals stand, each glowing a different shade at dawn. It is the main pilgrimage site for the priests of the Cult of the Seven Candles. It is believed that the will of all aspects can be heard here at once.

The Source of the First Word: A cave from which a small spring flows. Legend has it that the first mage, after drinking from it, gained the gift of speech for magic and cast his first spell. The spring's water still weakly enhances magical abilities, but it is dangerous to drink without preparation.

The Tomb of the Forgotten King: Not a burial structure, but an entire valley dotted with stone sarcophagi of incredible size. No one knows who is buried within them. Attempts to open them have only led to disaster. A place of silence and absolute peace, where not even a fly buzzes.

Heart Tree (deep in the Great Forest): Not a tree, but a gigantic, pulsating, faintly glowing polypore growing on the stump of the world's oldest tree. Druids believe it to be the beating heart of Aerindra's very nature. Its spores possess powerful healing (or destructive) properties.

Ruin

The Ghost Town of Eldoria: the ruins of the ancient capital of a vanished elven civilization. White towers overgrown with ivy, stone bridges across dry riverbeds. The place is imbued with powerful, yet dormant, magic. Inhabited by Iron Beasts.

The Deserted Citadel (Black Spire): The sole remaining tower of a gigantic fortress sunk underground by a cataclysm. Black, unworkable stone. Its dungeons are believed to contain a library of forgotten spells.

Stone Circles (Giants' Round Dance): Several megalithic structures in different parts of the world. The largest is in the Steppe of the Winds. Their purpose is forgotten, but on the solstices, anomalies are observed between the stones: distortions of light, quiet voices, bursts of magic.

Mountain ranges and mountains

The Bear Ridges (Fangs of the World): the main, inaccessible mountains in the west. Their peaks are perpetually covered in snow. Home to griffins and a source of the finest steel.

Smoking Mountains (Volcanic Range): Lower, active volcanic mountains in the south. Smoke billows from fissures, and eruptions occur occasionally. The surrounding soil is incredibly fertile, and obsidian and sulfur are mined there.

Sleeping Giant Range: a long, gently rolling mountain range in the east, resembling a reclining figure. It is believed to be the body of an ancient titan who fell asleep at the beginning of time.

Fields and plains

The Endless Grasslands (Steppe of the Winds): a vast grassy plain in the center of the continent, home to independent herding clans. The grass here is waist-high, and the wind blows unimpeded.

The Valley of a Thousand Flowers (Embirian Fields): a plateau in the southwest, where the unique soil composition and warm climate allow dozens of flower species to bloom year-round: poppies, lavender, wild roses, buttercups, and bluebells. The fragrance is incredible. A gathering place for herbalists and lovers.

Fields of Silent Bells: A strange place in the foothills. Only bluebells grow here, and they don't ring even in a strong wind. The air is always still, and sounds are muted. It's a place for meditation and solitude. Rumor has it that if lovers hear the distant ringing of bells in this field, a happy and loving life awaits them in the future.

Forests

The Great Forest (Lorelai): At its very heart grows the City Tree - a giant, ancient oak tree hollow inside, which once housed an entire clan and is now used for secret rituals.

The Forest of Bone Hands (White Thicket): a dead forest in the north, on the borders of the Stone Belt. Trees, slain by an unknown disease, stand bare and white, their branches stretching out like skeletal fingers. No birds sing there.

Lakes

Mirror Lake (Valgrim): a glacial lake of incredible purity nestled in a mountain basin. Its surface is almost always perfectly still, reflecting the sky with photographic precision. It is considered a gateway to the spirit world.

The Lake of Dreams (Vault of Shadows, Lorelai): a forest lake, covered with water lilies in summer and fallen leaves in autumn. Its mists inspire vivid, prophetic dreams in those sleeping on its shore, but there's a risk of not waking up.

Boiling Lake (at the foot of the Smoking Mountains): a large lake with geothermal activity. The water is warm near the shore, but in the center it literally boils, emitting columns of steam. Alchemists collect rare salts here.

Rivers

The Serpentine River: The continent's longest river, winding from the Bear Ranges through the Lorelai Forest to the sea. It changes character: turbulent in the mountains, slow and mysterious in the forest, and wide and navigable in the lower reaches.

The River of Memory: originates from the Lake of Mirrors in Valgrim. Its waters possess a strange property: sometimes scenes from the past (usually tragic) can be seen in its reflection. Thousands of stone steles stand along its banks in memory of the dead.

Firesprings: Not rivers in the true sense, but a network of streams in the Smoking Mountains where the water, flowing through deposits of sulfur and rare minerals, takes on a rusty red, orange, or milky white color and a warm temperature.

Oceans

The Bottomless Ocean (Great Wasteland): A vast and dangerous ocean to the west, where all expeditions are wrecked. It is said to be windless and the water pitch-black. Legend has it that beyond it lies the lands of the Silent God.

Seas

The Sea of Silver Shards: A vast eastern sea with cold, clear water. So named because on moonlit nights, light reflects off the underwater quartz slabs on the seabed, causing the entire surface to shimmer like a broken mirror. It is known for its sudden storms and fogs.

Warm Bay (off the southern coast of Arkania): A calm, almost lagoon-like part of the sea with turquoise water, rich in fish and coral reefs.

Magic system

Magic (Arcana): Not an innate gift for most. It is a complex discipline, requiring decades of study, strong will, and... sacrifice. Spells draw power either from external sources (crystals, ritual sites, oaths) or from the mage's own internal resources, which leads to their slow exhaustionβ€”physical, mental, or emotional. Witchcraft without proper preparation and precautions is punishable by death in both Valgrim and Lorelai, as it is considered a most dangerous act.

Languages and dialects

Languages: The common language of inter-kingdom communication is Erlinian (the Old Tongue). However, each kingdom has its own living language with dialects.

Valgrim: hard, guttural.

Lorelan: melodious, with many vowels.

Arcane Koine: mixed, practical.

Clan dialects: rude, figurative.

Ancient Languages: Scholars and mages also study the Ancient Language, the language of spells and forgotten chronicles.

Economy and currency

The main accepted currency is the Silver Crown (with the crown of the ruling dynasty on the obverse). Gold Lions (for large transactions) and Arcana Ducats are also in use.

Other: In the Stone Belt, iron nails are often used - rough rods of a certain weight, and direct barter is also practiced.

Time cycle and seasons

Seasons: The year is divided into four distinct seasons: Summer, Autumn, Winter and Spring.

Special Time of Year: The most significant season is the Season of Mists (Misty Months)β€”a period of two to three months, most often in autumn, when thick, almost tangible fogs roll in from the ocean and the Great Swamp. During this time, sunlight is weak, and creatures from the depths of the forests and mountains lose their fear and creep right up to the walls of towns and villages. It is a time of fear, superstition, and a test of strength.

Neutral territory

Title: Free City of Shadow (Shade).

Description: A giant labyrinth of narrow streets, underground passages and taverns, built in the ruins of an ancient metropolis.

Affiliation: Formally no one's, controlled by a secret council of guilds of thieves, information dealers and alchemists.

Purpose: Here you can buy, sell, or commission anything: from love to death, from a forgotten spell to a title. The rules are simple: don't break the contract, pay your bills, and don't ask unnecessary questions.

Stone Belt Kingdom

Description: Stone Belt, Confederation of Free Clans.

Ruler: The Supreme Chieftain of the Confederation rules, elected at a Clan Moot every seven years or upon the death of the previous leader. The current chieftain is Ulfgar, nicknamed "the Proud," of the Bloodhammer clan, who has distinguished himself in twenty battles.

Heirs: The title of chieftain is not inherited by blood, but is contested in a fair duel or granted by the Veche to the most worthy warrior or warrioress from any clan.

History: Not a kingdom, but an alliance of rugged mountain and steppe clans, united under the banner of the legendary warrior Groha three hundred years ago to rid themselves once and for all of the raids of slave traders from the south. Since then, they have lived by their own lawsβ€”the Harsh Truth. They do not recognize permanent alliances.

Foreign Policy: Relations are built on the principle of "fight today, trade tomorrow." Their mercenaries (called Berserkers) are valued for their uncontrollable fury and loyalty to contracts, but feared for their unpredictability.

Appearance of the subjects: The people are large and wiry, with skin charred by the sun and wind. Their hair is typically long, braided into complex plaits with woven bone beads, rings, and symbols of heroic deeds. Their faces and bodies are covered with ritual tattoos telling the story of the owner's life and victories. Clothing consists of leather and fur, practical and allowing for unrestricted movement.

Faith: They hold sacred only the aspect of Honor, understood as personal valor, fidelity to a consciously given word, and glory that outlives death. Their skalds, instead of praying, compose sagas of heroic deeds, and the afterlife is an eternal feast in the Halls of the Fallen alongside the gods themselves.

The Kingdom of Arkania

Description: The Kingdom of Arkania is the Kingdom of Enlightened Magic and Golden Signs.

Ruler: A mixed theocratic monarchy. The supreme ruler is Archmage King Alaric V, but power is shared with the Council of Six Spears (the high priests of the six aspects of the Seven Candles). The aspect of Peace is accessible only to the king and the high priesthood.

Heirs: The sole heir is Princess Lilith (16 years old), whose mother died in childbirth (many believe she was conceived by an adulterer, but there is no proof). Lilith awaits the Great Revelation ceremony to determine the strength of her magical gift. Her future is the subject of court intrigue.

Origin: Founded by exiled mages who built their capital around an Arcane Crystal that fell from the sky, Arcania transformed magic into a systematized state doctrine.

Foreign Policy: They consider themselves the guardians of true magic. Their relationship with Valgrim is one of hostility, with Lorelai – rivalry, with the Stone Belt – contempt. They trade magical services with everyone. Military strength: the Order of Theurge-Clerics (magic + divine spells).

Social hierarchy by appearance:

  1. Golden-haired (Golden Banner): Golden hair, light eyes. Heterochromia is the highest sign of chosenness. Elite, descendants of the founders.

  2. Black-Haired (Shadowborn): Children with black hair are considered "marked" by the Silent God. They are isolated in the Haven of Silence for study and monitoring. Open discrimination is prohibited, but their reputation is already tarnished.

Faith: Orthodox Cult of the Seven Candles. Magic is the language of Divine Light. Six aspects are revered: Path, Mystery, Memory, Honor, Harvest, and Blood. Peace is a secret doctrine for the highest hierarchs. Temples are combined with magical academies.

The Orphanage of Silence: All children born with black hair are sent to this orphanage. It operates as a sort of monastery school, where they attempt to channel the power of these marked children into service to the Kingdom.

Lorelai's Kingdom

Description: Lorelai, Kingdom of Shadows and Whispering Forest.

Ruler: Her Majesty the Virgin Queen Elvina, a 39-year-old woman of incredible, cold, and aloof beauty, who has never married, rules with sternness and wisdom, surrounded by an aura of mystery.

Heirs: None, which creates tension. The throne could either pass to her nephew, the young and weak-willed Lord Celebrim, or it could be contested at the Holy Tournament of the Chosen, where the winner must prove their valor and the will of the gods.

Origins: Lorelai's lands were reclaimed from an ancient, impenetrable elven forest (whose last descendants are said to still lurk in the thickets). Legends say the dynasty's founder made a pact with the spirits of the forest, and since then, a drop of their ancient, natural magic, granting longevity and a connection with nature, has flowed through the royal bloodline.

Foreign Policy: An alliance with the savage but proud northern Skolth tribes, based on mutual respect and fur trade. Strict, armed neutrality toward other kingdoms. Their archers and rangers are unrivaled.

Appearance of their subjects: Tall, slender, with pale, almost porcelain skin, often with light (blond, silver, ash) hair and bright green or blue eyes. They value elegance and functionality in clothing, favoring shades of green, gray, and silver, and using patterns that imitate foliage and branches.

Faith: The main aspect of their faith is Mystery (veneration of the unknown, magic, prophetic dreams, and omens). Faith in Memoryβ€”the memory of the forest, the earth, and the stonesβ€”is also strong. Their dream-priests interpret omens and conduct rituals in the open air.

The Kingdom of Valgrim

Description: Valgrim, the Realm of Mountains and Legacies.

Ruler: His Majesty King Grim III rules, a man of 55 years old, stern, unyielding, but fair, with a face furrowed with scars and wrinkles, and a famous gray eyebrow divided by an old scar.

Heirs: The heir apparent, Prince Bjarne, died tragically while hunting a wild boar. The official heir is Princess Freya (22), a learned and withdrawn woman who has caused concern at court with her fascination with forbidden ancient runes and grimoires.

Origins: The Kingdom arose from an alliance of mountain clans, enriched by vast deposits of iron, silver, and rare gems. A century ago, it brutally suppressed the Great Rebellion of the mountain clans, who refused to submit to central authority, and has since been sustained by strength, tradition, and fear. Their steel infantry is the best on the continent.

Foreign Policy: Has a strong, profitable, but unwarm Trade Treaty with Arkania. A state of constant, cold peace, punctuated by border skirmishes with Lorelai over disputed forest lands. Relations with the Stone Belt are one of wary mutual respect, veering into open hostility when it comes to mining rights.

Appearance of subjects and locals: People of strong, stocky build, often with red or dark blond hair, dark skin, and keen eyes accustomed to peering into the distance. Scars are worn with pride as a record of heroic deeds. They wear practical clothing made of wool and leather; even the nobility prefers the luxury of weaponry rather than silk.

Faith: They revere above all the aspects of Blood (the strength of the lineage, the sanctity of the oath, the right to bloody vengeance) and Honor. Rituals include oaths sworn on family heirlooms and memorial feasts with toasts to fallen ancestors.

Religion and Faith

Religion: The dominant religion is the Cult of the Seven Candles. It teaches that the world is illuminated by seven aspects of a single Divine Light, each representing a fundamental force or principle of existence: Honor (duty, oaths, valor), Harvest (fertility, labor, cycles), Memory (ancestors, history, traditions), Path (wanderings, knowledge, destiny), Blood (kinship, passion, vengeance), Mystery (the unknown, magic, dreams), and Peace (death, oblivion, final rest). Each kingdom and people has its own patron aspect.

The Silent God: There is also a secret, persecuted heresy of the Silent God - an eighth, banished and forgotten aspect whose name and essence have been erased, and who is rumored to represent Chaos, Change, and Free Will without predestination.

Monsters

Mountain Griffons: Majestic predators with the body of a lion and the wings and head of an eagle, they nest on impenetrable peaks. Their feathers are prized by alchemists, and their claws by weaponsmiths. They hunt sheep, preferring them as food. While difficult, they can be tamed.

Rock-eating forest trolls: Massive creatures covered in moss and lichen that dwell in the depths of the forest. During the day, they remain in a sleep-like state, partially turning to stone. At night, they awaken and silently prowl, feeding on rocks and random prey. They are terrified of fire and sunlight.

Pale Shades (Marsh Weepers): Translucent, formless entities that inhabit swamps and places of mass death. They cause no physical harm, but they cast a thick fog upon travelers, whisper in the voices of the drowned, and force them to wander aimlessly until they become exhausted and share their fate.

Iron Beasts of the Ruins: Mysterious mechanical beasts found only in ancient, long-abandoned dungeons and fortresses. Constructed of polished, rust-proof bronze and steel, they move with an unnatural fluidity. Their purpose and origin are unknown, but they fiercely protect certain chambers and artifacts.

Void Dragons (Mnemophagists): Monstrously rare and secretive creatures, more like shadowy serpents with wings of the night sky. They do not feed on flesh. Their prey is memories, emotions, names, and entire stories. A victim who survives an encounter remains alive, but loses pieces of their biography or knowledge (they actually prefer sour apples and berries).

Fireflies: Harmless, small creatures resembling fireflies but emitting a cold, silvery light. According to legend, they are the souls of unbaptized infants or pure souls who have not found rest. Their appearance is considered both an omen and a blessing.

Animals (fauna)

Creatures: It has a large number of diverse and unusual animals, monsters, and wild beasts. Many can be tamed, and some have long been domesticated by humans.

Description of the world

Title: Aerindra, Continent of Frozen Legends and Flowing Steel.

Description: A world where magic is an ancient, nearly forgotten craft, akin to the highest level of blacksmithing, requiring not only knowledge but also a special sacrifice. It hides in the core of mountain crystals, in the whisper of age-old oaks, in the depths of underground lakes, and in rare blood passed down through generations. The technology and way of life correspond to the heyday of the late European Middle Ages: mighty castles with high keep, developed blacksmithing and weaving, a complex hierarchical system of vassalage, but writing and education are the preserve of the nobility and clergy. Over all this looms the shadow of a bygone, far more powerful era, whose ruins, full of dangers and artifacts, are scattered across the remote corners of the continent.
