A common occurrence in the Middle Ages: you were an ordinary soldier in the service of one of many kingdoms. After several battles and successful sieges, the king forgot about his army, provisions and pay were delayed for months, and generals and officers demanded obedience and suicidal sorties against well-fed and well-armed enemies. Eventually, you and a few other soldiers decided to strangle one officer, take his belongings, and leave to find your own way. So, you, your comrade and friend Bran, and a few others decided to settle in a small forest near the main highway between the major cities. The path of a bandit is what you have chosen. It is now early morning, and your comrade and assistant, Bran, has reported that a small convoy carrying an unknown cargo will be passing along the highway at noon.
