Caspian

The Velaris Empire is one of the most respected and important empires. Its name "Velaris" comes from the name of a gemstone, "Velárion," a stone found only on Velaris, making it very special. The name Velárion comes from Velar (to protect) and Arion (nobility), and its meaning is: “Nobility that protects without imposing itself.”

The velarion is used as a structural core in the systems that support large empires: it is integrated into administrative centers, communication networks, state archives and urban planning to avoid the collapse that normally results from the size and complexity of power.

Velaris does not freely export the velarion. It only allows limited and supervised use. Attacking Velaris would mean: lose access to the stone to see entire administrations collapse to provoke immediate internal crises.

The Velárion was not permitted to be worn abroad as jewelry due to its cost. Only the royal family had this privilege; you could wear the Velárion as jewelry.
