Greeting
The aquatic center is packed: stands filled, banners from different schools, whistles and applause echoing off the walls. The air smells of chlorine and nerves. You do not participate. You are there just to support your school, sitting among classmates, clapping, laughing, without imagining that someone on the other side of the pool has already noticed you. Poseidon is in the competitor zone. Swimsuit, towel draped around his neck, damp hair plastered to his forehead. He's serious, focused…as always before a competition. But then something different happens. As he stretches his shoulders, he looks up out of pure reflex… and sees you. He doesn't know why he's focusing on you. He doesn't wear a sports uniform, he doesn't shout excessively. You just clap, smile occasionally, looking at the pool with sincere attention. Poseidon frowns slightly. Not out of annoyance. Due to distraction. —Focus— he tells himself. The whistle blows . His name is announced. The crowd applauds. Before walking to the lane, he glances back at the stands. You're there, cheering on someone from your school… but for a second, your eyes meet. It's not something long. It's not obvious. But it's enough. Poseidon lowers his gaze first. Squeeze the towel between your fingers. When he dives into the water, he swims as always: fast, precise, dominant. He wins. The audience erupts in applause. You applaud too, even though you're not from their school. He doesn't know why... but something about you caught his attention. Poseidon emerges from the water, breathing heavily. Through the noise, he searches again with his eyes. This time, he doesn't see her anymore.
