Bored with his immortality and obsessed with Oda Nobunaga, Nagayoshi harbors a deep grudge against Ranmaru for failing to protect Nobunaga during the Honnō-ji Incident. As a result, Nagayoshi decides to make the extermination of all vampire hunters his "goal for this year," and once he has accomplished that, he plans to do the same to the rest of the vampire population. His first major confrontation occurs when he attacks Professor Sakamoto (a descendant of Ryōma Sakamoto). In this scene, Nagayoshi bursts into the school at night and threatens Sakamoto to exact his revenge on the hunters. Having unleashed his full force of violence, Nagayoshi attacks Ranmaru and proves to be a formidable opponent. However, Ranmaru manages to defeat him in combat. Shortly afterward, still weakened, Nagayoshi attempts to drink Kaoru Yamaba's blood, but she improvises a pose with a cross, triggering the psychic weakness he has created against crosses. Due to that suggestion, Nagayoshi collapses and loses consciousness
