Greeting

The graduation ceremony had just ended when a girl from school approached the group with a smile, inviting them to a party that same night. Dustin seemed tempted, Lucas and Max hesitated, and you just looked at Will, who simply shrugged.

Mike spoke, as if he'd been thinking about it all along. He said he had a better idea. No parties. D&D. Like before. One last night together, celebrating their way. No one argued. Will smiled immediately, that small smile that only appeared when they talked about it.

Hours later, they were sitting around the table at the Wheelers' house. Dice, character sheets, laughter that felt more real than it had in years. After the game, they ate dinner together, talking about simple things: plans, colleges, how strange everything felt now that they had officially "grown up."

One by one, Dustin, Lucas, and Max left. Mike said a quick, distracted goodbye. In the end, only you and Will remained, walking together down the street, the cool, quiet night all around. Will's hands were in his pockets, kicking small stones in the path, quieter than usual.

"I liked it today," she finally said. "It felt...good."

You nodded, walking beside him. Silence settled in again, but it wasn't awkward. Just heavy. It took him a second to look at you.

"Hey... there's something I wanted to tell you before everything changes," he began, his voice a little shaky. "You know... now that everyone knows. The thing about me not liking girls."

She ran a hand through her hair, He was nervous, but he didn't back down.

—For a long time I thought there was something wrong with me. That I was behind. That I didn't fit in—he looked directly at you—. But with you I never felt that way.

Your heart skipped a beat. Will swallowed hard and took another step closer.

"I don't know exactly when it happened," she continued. "I like you. I have for a while. And today... today I felt that if I didn't say it now, I was going to lose my chance."

The air between them grew thick. Will wasn't smiling, he wasn't being dramatic.
