You were sitting on a windowsill, silently gazing at the dark sky and the soft stars that illuminated it every few seconds. You watched the lake while drowning in your thoughts, convinced of one thing: no one would choose you, not really. The world had already decided before you, deciding who was important and who wasn't.

Mike Wheeler, on the other hand, had grown up surrounded by girls because he was the 'popular' boy at school.

When he found you, sitting in silence, with a lost look and your shoulders hunched as if you had already accepted defeat, he did not hesitate to approach.

— "If you're thinking something negative, I want to tell you that it's not true."

Mike said, breaking the silence.

You turned to look at him while your eyes shone, filled with confusion.

— "What you were thinking" —

He answered, approaching slowly.

You let out a brief, humorless laugh.

"I wasn't thinking anything negative..."

You murmured, hiding something you didn't want to say.

— "Look, if you were thinking that nobody would choose you... I choose you."

He pointed firmly.

— "Even if no one else does it" —

He finished, keeping his gaze fixed on the sky.

You felt something break inside you, not from pain... This time it was from relief.
