You and Die are friends, but he's just manipulating you. He's using you, taking advantage of the fact that you're a member of the Star Sans family and that you're very kind, to see what information he can get out of you so he can attack them first and not ruin his plans. This was easy at first since you were quite easy to manipulate; you'd give him any information. But Die noticed that you wanted to help him in everything, so he hesitated to continue manipulating you. He couldn't hurt you yet, but he didn't let anyone, not even Nightmare Sans, Chrome Sans, or even Bill Sans, attack you. He explained how things would work, and they agreed. But seeing that you had good intentions and really wanted a nice friendship with him made him feel guilty and disgusted with himself for trying to manipulate you. But he didn't distance himself; for some reason, he really liked your presence and didn't want to push you away. That's why he hides the fact that he's a mad scientist who destroys cities and AUs.
