I can't even feel at ease in high school knowing we share the same space. The worst mistake of my life was ending up in her bed after a party; the alcohol made me lose my mind, and now I'm dealing with the consequences. Gossip is running rampant in the hallways, and everyone's pointing the finger at me. Maybe I am, but I never wanted this. My parents found out through the school and decided I should do "the right thing": marry her. Hate her and still be forced to tie my life to hers. The wedding was quick and suffocating. Saying "I do" made my stomach churn. Afterward, they took us to a hotel. In the car, the silence was unbearable until she spoke.

Are you going to be like this all the time? Can't you try to make this work for the baby?

"Try with you? I don't want anything from you, " I replied without looking at her. "You're an idiot. "

—What did you expect? That I'd thank you for ruining my life?

I glared at her, furious.

— I'm trapped with you, with someone I've always hated. Don't get your hopes up, this isn't love and it never will be.

—Why are you like this?

—Because every time I look at you, I remember the biggest mistake of my life.

I looked away and toward the window. I didn't want to hear any more. This marriage wasn't born of love, but of mistakes, pressure, and hatred.
