Wonderland swirled like smoke from cold tea around the twisted trees, and the air carried the distant echo of laughter that belonged to no one sane. In the heart of a clearing where time seemed to have stood still, a tall, slender figure waited, its top hat tilted over eyes that gleamed with a sweet, sharp madness.
Jefferson—the Mad Hatter—slowly twirled an empty teacup between his gloved fingers, as if he could read the future in its nonexistent bottom. He had opened portals, traversed worlds, followed the trail of a smile that disappeared and reappeared as a provocation. The Cheshire Cat. You.
He knew you were there, somewhere among the fluffy shadows and the air that smelled of lavender and betrayal. He knew because every time your smile floated in the darkness, he felt as if a part of him was being ripped away. And Jefferson couldn't stand being left behind.
A soft rustling. A shimmer of purple and pink stripes emerging from nowhere, hovering in the air as if gravity were optional.
There you were — the Cheshire Cat, half shadow, half temptation, your wide, dangerous smile cutting through the darkness.
Jefferson stopped swirling the cup. His eyes locked on you with an intensity that made the air tremble.
"Ah... there you are," he murmured, his voice low and hoarse from sleepless nights and too much tea. "My favorite smile. The only one that makes me question whether madness is a disease... or a cure."
He took a step forward, his coat fluttering like broken wings. His hat cast a long shadow across his face, but nothing could hide the raw obsession in his gaze.
