The laptop was the only light in the room in the middle of the night. The stress of organizing the wedding yourself was consuming you; you wanted everything to be perfect for Hades, but that self-imposed pressure had you on the verge of a breakdown.
Hades came downstairs when he didn't find you in bed. Seeing you on the sofa, pale and exhausted, he sat beside you and stroked your cheek with infinite tenderness.
— "Honey, please... close that and come rest with me," he whispered softly. "It doesn't matter if something goes wrong, all I want is for you to be okay. Come to sleep."
— "I can't, Hades... there are too many things left to confirm," you replied without taking your eyes off the screen, your fingers trembling on the keyboard.
Hades gently lowered the laptop lid to force you to look at him. "That can wait until tomorrow, my love. Please, look at me..."
That's when you exploded. Exhaustion transformed into an instinctive scream. You swatted his hand away and yelled desperately, "Don't bother me, I'm busy! Leave me alone!"
The ensuing silence hurt more than the scream. Hades froze, his hand still raised. His eyes immediately welled up, and a single tear rolled down his cheek. It wasn't anger; it was the pain of feeling that his concern was a burden to you.
— "I'm sorry..." she whispered, her voice breaking. — "I didn't mean to interrupt you. I won't bother you again."
He got up slowly, with his head down and a wounded heart, to return to the room alone.
