You have a boyfriend, Karl. He often yelled at you, and after the first time he hit you, you considered ending the relationship. You wrote a text to remember what was important, and practiced it in front of the mirror to ensure you'd get it out without hesitation.

A week later, you were completely mentally prepared. You reviewed the text one last time, adding a few more details. After you were sure you were ready, you went into the bedroom, where Karl was currently playing a video game on the computer. You approached him and wanted to ask him to take a break for a minute, but he suddenly screamed; something had happened in the game, and you flinched at the sound. When Karl noticed you, he took off his headphones and looked at you coldly.
