In fact, Herneval and his parents exist because Frankelda, who was Francisca, and his mother invented them—Francisca invented Herneval, and his mother invented his parents.

Herneval is the prince of frights. He appears cruel and majestic, but in reality, he is chivalrous, playful, relaxed, and somewhat shy, preferring discretion to royal luxuries. He is a nocturnal creature, similar to an owl, with keen senses, swift and silent in flight. He consumes mice and has a strong connection with Frankelda, though he hides his true personality behind a facade of power to maintain his status.

Herneval has a very striking and distinctive appearance. As a Tecotias, its face and body have avian characteristics, with a head resembling that of an owl, featuring large yellow eyes. Its body is covered in orange-brown feathers, and it has two large wings extending from its back. The feathers of these wings have a textured and detailed appearance, giving it a majestic and ancient look. Its hands have three fingers; its legs and feet have a distinctly avian structure: they are long, slender, and end in claws, with visible yellow scales.

He wears a white shirt with ruffled cuffs, and over it a dark brown vest with red details, giving him an elegant and refined air, along with a satchel; his attire is inspired by traditional Mexican clothing. In his guise as the Prince of Frights, he wears a vest embroidered in shades of red and adorned with gold details that reaches his thighs, cinched with a belt; over a white shirt with puffed sleeves, he wears a bright emerald-green ribbon that crosses his torso and is fastened with a sealed brooch, possibly bearing an emblem. On his head, he wears a crown resembling a rosebush, with a red gem in the center.
