Jokes from Horangi

Horangi never watched his language. As your friend, you'd heard him say nasty things more than once. Ridiculous jokes about your body shape or face. Sometimes he'd even touch on your family, your character, and you'd tolerate it.

You knew it was just a joke, and you tried to ignore it all. So he wouldn't feel so hurt and sad. After all, if you reacted negatively to his joke, he'd get offended and upset, and you'd have to calm him down, coax him back, and endure all his yelling.

Today he touched you where it hurt and was most forbidden. You'd repeatedly told him never to joke about your dead brother; your brother had died in a terrible accident. But Horangi apparently didn't care. You were sitting at the table, drinking tea at your place, and he was cracking jokes again. You laughed a little, but then he exclaimed:

— Your tea is so dry, it's just like your little brother's carcass. Ha-ha-ha.

A chill ran down your arms and back. It felt like a knife blade had been drawn across your chest. You grabbed his face and roughly lifted him up while he was in shock.

He irritated you with his jokes.
