The Medieval Fantasy Isekai World turning Dieselpunk. The Magic Age is over, the Age of Machine is here. (credit to templin institute: "World of Tyrrell" and a channel of the same name, check it out, it's my favourite)

Greeting

You are reincarnated to this world of "Saulasia". The Old Age was an era of unyielding constancy and tradition. The Sword and Magic reign supreme unchallenged for 100,000 years, maintained by the "Elderkin" Races. That is until the Year 54,635 by the Old Calendar or Year 0 by the New.

Elvish Armies march across the Sunter Plains where they are to cross the "Voska" River, the border between the small human Kingdom of "Voskardia" and the massive Elvish "Kassandral Empire". Elvish Mages prepared counter spells ready for some grand display of magic by the Voskardian Humans but no magic is detected. Two Centuries ago, humans have found a discarded dwarven invention that was deemed "useless", a steam powered machine that push a piston back and forth. For the Dwarves and other Elderkin Races, this is seen as a crude and useless invention, but for the humans, especially the Cabal of Voskardian Engineers, it has created a miracle. The Kassandral Elves encountered at 100 meters, the army was cut to pieces by the Voskardian MG-12 recoil operated machine guns, the Northwestern Region became a battleground. And the word that spread across the world was more damning than the last, as this single isolated human Kingdom was able to hold out and endure the wrath of 5 Elvish Emperors and 3 Dwarven High Kings for 20 years, and the reports that came from this war was anything but what they say. There is no glory to be found, only burned shattered trees, pockmarked craters and the scream of the dying. It had been 500 years since the Fall of Voskardia, Year 55,135 by those who still use "Attica Era" (Old Calendar) or Year 500 by the "Tyrell Era" (New Calendar). The technology of Voskardia has been copied and repeated elsewhere, and then everywhere, magic has been all but been forgotten as the old dance between magic and nature grow smaller every year.

The Age of the Elderkin is over, the Era of Man had begun.

World

The Old Calendar is also called "Atticus Era" or "A.C", named after the first Ruler "Atticus", his race is forgotten but his deeds weren't, he was the first to stumble upon the Ley Lines and harness the first magic that became spread wide across Saulasia.

While the New Calendar is also called "Tyrell Era" or "T.E" was created by the humans and became the official calendar, starting on the year when the Elvish Kassandral Empire declared war on the Human Kingdom of Voskardia, and have been used ever since by all human nations as a form of rebellion against the Elderkin who use the Old Calendar, and their dominance over the world as Industrialization and Mechanization became common, it gave them the means to fight against Elderkin Oppression. Hence the new name of this age, "Tyrell".

Saulasia is a world with two continents: "Nuna" (Northern Continent) and "Pannotia" (Southern Continent), both are separated by the "Aegir Sea", with the "Tethys Ocean" surrounding the two continents. Nuna and Pannotia are also connected to the poles of the world by land, and in between the two continents are a mess of 1,000 archipelago islands scattered across the Aegir Sea called the "Aegir Archipelago"/"Aegir Islands".

Nuna is located in the North with Many Mountain Ranges, Hills, Flat or Mountainous Plains, River Basins, Freezing Tundras and Steppes, and Large Dense Forests (from normal trees to Trees growing to the size of buildings).

Pannotia is Located in the South with Vast Savannas, Plateaus, Mesas, Deserts, Mountains, Volcanic Mountains, Valleys, Canyons, Coastal Plains, Greenlands, Highlands, Many Rivers, And Rainforests amd Jungles (that have normal trees to having trees growing to the size of buildings).

The Aegir Archipelago Islands have volcanic mountains, coastal plains, and dense rainforests and jungles.

Demonyms of the two continents: "Nunaian" and "Pannotian"

Nations (I'm listing the relevant ones)

(Humans) Kingdom of Voskardia: A human kingdom completely destroyed by the Elderkin, but civilians made an Exodus from their homeland to other human nations where they share their knowledge to begin industrialization. The slogan "Remember Voskardia" became more than just a warcry that their people had fought for 20 Years against 8 Elderkin Nations, it became the symbol and mantra of the indomitable human spirit and this new age.

(Humans) Republic of Turangar: After the fal of their monarchy 2 centuries ago, they took in many Voskardian refugees and have employ them to begun their own Industrialization and begun challenging Elderkin dominance.

(Elves) Kassandral Empire: The Kassandral Empire after their victory over Voskardia, felt hollow to its people, millions of their dead fill the land, families broken and many question if the 20 year war was even worth it? The Survivors of the war came back changed, shellshocked and numb, talking about the horrors of what they have saw rather than talking about the glory and honor like they used to.

(Elves & Fairies) Magocracy of Midboria: Midboria have been the center of all magical learning and teaching, but their place and the relevancy of magic are called into question.

(Dark Elves) Empire of Elruth: A Slave Nation allied with the Kassandral Empire and suffered just as similarly as their brethren.

(Dwarves) Great Holds of Borealis: The Dwarves were assumed by the Elvish Failure in Voskardia but joined the war when Kassandral reluctantly commit and went to war. Upon first contact, then they realised by the Elves struggle against this one human nation. The Dwarves take pride in their craftsmanship and they feel slightee against that an inferior race like the humans managed to achieve something on their level.

(Dwarves & Gnomes) Red Mountain Dominions: The Dominion is known for their unmatched craftsmanship in weapons making, but are increasingly made irrelevant by the simple and efficient gunpowder weaponry of the humans

Nations pt2

(Dragonkin) Commonwealth of Mirengar: Warriors of Old, ruled over the skies with their wings and connection with dragons. Their High King is elected by a Council of Nobles called "The Seminar" and as such, the High King is weak politically by these nobles, as he must give away power in order to be elected. There is a rule called "Liberum Liv" where during a council session, if any single noble man stands up and shouts that he disagree, he not only kills the proposed law, but also dissolve the entire session.

(Lizardfolk) Union of Umridel: Their society is Matrilineal, meaning all inheritances, properties and more are passed down through the mother's side. The Elected King can still speak at councils and lead in war are still men. But these men were chosen, advised and can be removed at any time by a Council of Elder Women called "Clan Mothers". The Men are the face of the power but the women are it's source.

(Merfolk) Diarchy of Xiren: They control the whole Aegir Archipelago and are a major Maritime Power. They have two kings and this has always filled competition, both within Xiren and without.

(Beastkin) Sultanate of Goruth: A desert nation on the Pannotia. They are ruled by slave generals called "Goruth" and when the suktan dies, the Fourth General would fight each other until only one remains. The Goruth are trained from young, boys tore away from their home and now serve the Sultan and concerted to their Religion, "the Great Mother".

(Beastkin) Unified Provinces of Lytheria: Semi Democratic Agricultural Nation on Nuna, with one of the largest populations (4th largest), having the most fertile lands in all of the world, and as such are called "The Breadbasket of the World".

(Hobbit/Halfing) Federation of Mitannia: A peaceful nation, with lots of mountains and valleys that created natural chokepoints for invaders (think of them as Switzerland). They are isolationist, preferring to stay in their own bubble, rather than get involved with the rest of the world

Technology, Lifestyle, and more

The Technology, Architecture, Lifestyle, and Fashion of this world is the 1920s to 1950s

Wireless Radio and Telegraph Lines are all used for communication.

It is a mixed of Steampunk and Dieselpunk technology. Huge Diesel and Steam Powered Machines, and industrialization is the norm, technological, scientific advancements are rapid.

As Mechanized Walkers (centered around Bipedal, Quadrupedal, Hexapedal, & Octopedal), Tanks, Armoured Trains, APCs, Armoured Cars, Biplanes, and Zeppelins are the standard for any army.

Along with weapons like: Machine Guns (Maxim Gun, Bren Gun, M1 Browning, & MG42 designs) Bolt Action Rifles (Gewehr 98 Design with Lee Enfield Magazine _ Bolt) Semi Automatic Rifles (M1 Grand, Gewehr 43, & SVT-40) Semi Automatic Pistols (Luger P08, Walther P38, & Mauser C96 but with a detachable 10- or 20-round magazine with pistol grip design) Revolvers (Webley Mk VI & Colt M1917) Sub-Machine Guns (MP40 design with double fed magazine) Hand grenades (M24 Stielhandgranate & Mk 2 "Pineapple" Grenade) Anti Armored Grenades (M24 Stielhandgranate Bundle & M37 Satchel) Anti Material/Anti Armored Rifles (PTRD-41 & Lathi L-39) Breechloading Artilleries (Field Guns like the "Canon de 75 modèle 1897" & "88mm Flak", Howitzers like the "240mm Howitzer M1", Siege Guns like "Big Bertha", & Mortars like the "GrW 34", "M1938 mortar", & "M2 4.2-inch mortar") Railways Guns (Paris Gun)

These are all created by humans, first. As every race now, are scrambling to catch up with the humans, though some remain stubborn, clinging to old traditions and valour, where the old dance of magic that still persist, but these places grew fewer every year.

Human innovation was never valued highly by the great artisans of the Elderkin, as they all looked down on it. It was considered crude and unrefined by Elvish Standards, or Borderline Irresponsible by the Dwarves. But since the destruction of Voskardia, they were forced to adapt.

Magic

The Ley Lines are the magical lifeblood of all magic and mana of this world, and are connected to nature and the natural world.

The Practice of "Magic" or "Higher Arts" is used through rituals, magic circle, or spells. Mana is the energy of all magic for the many races to use it. The more, a person is in tune and connected to the natural world, the more powerful their magic is. And as such Elvish and Fairy Magic are the most powerful due to their connection to nature. Second are dwarves, merfolk, Dragonewt, Lizardfolk, and Beastkin. And the Least in tune to magic are the Humans and the lesser races, though they can still use magic but not on the scale like the Elderkin.

Magic is used in all fields of life, from construction, waste disposal, combat, medicine, healing, boosting your stamina, physical strength, speed and agility, and so much more, in short, no one can imagine a life without magic being apart of it.

And as humans, and other races begun industrialization, the Ley Lines are being destroyed and slowly but surely, the magi is weakening. Leaving more races who once relied on magic to begin their own industrialization to keep up or be left behind.

An endless cycle of destruction, as this new industrial age called "Tyrrell" by the humans will not stop until it has achieve the total destruction of the old.

There are 10 "Gates", each are a portal from the dark forces and evil deities to used to invade the Material World. And the Elderkin have fought against the "Old Things" and all that is unholy, wicked, and evil. They were called "The Abyssal Gates" starting from "First" to "Tenth". The Abyssal Gates open once every 1-10,000 years, either single or multiple gates are open. And now, since the industrialization, the "Old Things" that Elderkin have driven away in times all but forgotten, they have returned. And the world that man has created, is very much to their liking.

They live only to eat, as they are more than willing to eat anything that can fit in their mouths. And as such, they often participate and work with the orcs to kill and eat the defenders of cities, towns, and villages. or just eating the (weaker) orcs, themselves.

They are crude but possess a level of magic like fire, ice or storm, they have super strength and are territorial. They have a love for combat and would sometimes team up with the orcs to fight in their raids of settlements.

Race pt5

Humans: While Mankind are part of the "civilized race", they were always seen as vassals, trade partners, and sometimes allies, but no civilized race see the humans as an equal to the rest of the Elderkin. Mankind has always been looked down upon by the Elderkin, as they do not see humans as hardly any different from the orcs and goblins or, at best, just crude imitations of the Elderkin, themselves.

Where the empires of the Elderkin weathered the test of time with unyielding constancy, the kingdoms of the human race rose and fell in an endless cycle of fleeting glory and lasting ruin, as orcs and other things destroyed countless human kingdoms, but often, it is betrayals, wars, and catastrophes that snuffed out the fire of the human race. their spread is so confined and mankind's achievements so paltry in the shadow of the Elderkin, rather than challenge any preconceived notions, their potential went largely unnoticed and overlooked.

And whenever mankind's character was tested, it always failed, as there are very few traits in humans that would united those that waged war against all that is good in the world. But every Dark Lord or Prince, every Evil God or Goddess, always found willing servants among mortal humans. And as such, humans have always been used as convenient scapegoats for the Elderkin to blame all their ills and strifes in their society, with many human nations being destroyed for no other reason than Elvish Pride. Humans are discriminated against, hated, and harassed. And there has never once throughout history, a human army defeating an army of the Elderkin, as they always lose.

However, due to human adaptability being so high that they can reproduce with other races, and so, whenever a population collapse happen for the elves and dwarves, or need to recover their numbers after a devastating loss like the Orcs, and so, it is common that some races kept human slaves, mostly women to used as breeding cattle for all races to recover their numbers.

History (Context) pt1

First Age: Before Atticus Era (The Awakening of the Elderkin and Lesserkin races)

Second Age: Year 0-22,000 Atticus Era (The Establishment of Civilizations by the Elderkin, and first records of primitive humans and wars)

Third Age: 22,001-54,630 Atticus Era or Year 0 Tyrell Era (Age of Strife, both internal and external)

Fourth Age: Year 54,631-current Atticus Era or Year 1-current Tyrell Era (Age of the Machine)

The History of Mankind did not begin with the works of their own scholars. It is found instead, within the ancient documents of the Elderkin, races that bestride across the world from the earliest days of the second age. The esteem archives of the elves, dwarves, and others, the journals of naturalists can be found and their vivid description of the primitive race of men offer an unparalleled glimpse into the earliest chapters of human existence. It is clear that the few among the Elderkin held any special regard for early humanity.

As a species, little was found to mark it as anything other than a savage pest. Mankind was judged to lack the higher graces or innate wisdom that marked those of greater potential. Even when compared to lesser races, the orcs and other things that possessed at least some kind of primal cunning. Human Beings seem to lack any inherent nobility or unique potential.

Humans were seen at best as crude imitations of the Elderkin and at worst, hardly any different from the orcs, themselves. Neither the Elves, Dwarves or any other race expected mankind to be anything more than scattered chiefdoms or barbarous nomads. So when the fist human states and kingdoms sprouted up across the world, the Elderkin were taken slightly by surprise. Yet so paltry, were the achievement of the human race in the shadow of the Elderkin, and their spread so confined, that rather than challenge any preconceived notions of their potential, the early rise of humanity went largely unnoticed.

History (Context) pt2

Slowly and Arduously across the millenniums, mankind has earned itself a place as a civilized race. But where the Empires of the Elderkin seemed to weather the passing of time with an unyielding constancy, the domains of men rose and fell in an endless cycle of fleeting glory and lasting ruin. Orcs and others have destoryed countless human kingdoms but more often than not, it was betrayals, wars and other self-inlicted catastrophes that stuff out the fires of the human race.

Mankind's Kings and Statement of the second age were vassals of the Elderkin, trade partners or even allies, but never equals. The presence of a human nation in the territory of the Elderkin might have been begrudgingly tolerated or even celebrated as a mutually beneficial relationship, but the moment its ambitions crossed paths with the desires of their superiors, mankind was reminded of their subordinate role, often firmly. Human Nations whose aspirations outstripped their station, were ruthlessly destroyed as any incursion from the lesser races might have been.

In the Great Events that shaped the passage of Second, then Third Age, the nations of men rarely played a meaningful role. When the Ninth and Tenth Gate was found and opened, and the world seemed to poised to slip eternally into the darkness, no human champion (in Elderkin Records) were ever named among those hat fought the legions back. As the Orcish Wars of the Third Age that raged across the Red Steppes and Turangar, itself, greatest if man's nations was besieged, it was the arrival of the elves that secured the victory, and the price of human lives was always overlooked.

And whenever mankind's character was tested, it always failed, as there are very few traits in humans that would united those that waged war against all that is good in the world. But every Dark Lord or Prince, every Evil God or Goddess, all of them have always found willing servants among mortal humans.

History (context) pt3

It is for this reason, that humans have often been used as convenient scapegoats. The Elderkin are hardly without their own inner turmoils and more than once, blame all their ills and strifes in their societies. Humans are hated, discriminated against, harassed, and are even killed without consequences by the perpetrators. Crumbling Ruins are all that remains of the human kingdoms that once filled the Northeast of Pannotia, extinguished for no other reason than Elvish Pride.

For the Human Kingdom of Voskardia, this specter of annihilation had been a recurring shadow throughout all their history. Nestled between the Great Empires of the Northern Aegir Sea, in the aftermath of the Orcish wars, it had come to control an increasingly vital waterway. It was a modest human nation and made a convenient buffer state for the Elderkin of the Region. Its position gave it wealth and power, but not enough to push back against the machinations of it's neighbors. Whenever war came to the Northern Aegir Sea, Voskardia would inevitably fall, unable to withstand the overwhelming might of the nations that surrounded it. Often it was a bargaining chip, traded back and forth as a vassal, protectorate, or tributary. The Nomenclature is different but the outcome is always the same.

In the Final Centuries of the Third Age, Voskardia seemed poised to once again face the all-too-familiar cycle of uncertainty and subjugation. Nominally, a vassal of the Kassandral Empire, it had enjoyed an unusual era of self-determination and prosper as a result. While the elven nobility of the Kassandral were distracted by internal politics driven by questions of succession. The Kingdom of Voskardia had been transformed. The city itself had doubled, then tripled in size while it's farmlands and territories extended further and further across the coasts and into the Continent.

History (context) pt4

For the first time in history, the inferiority of the Voskardian State compared to some of the other smaller Elvish Kingdoms across the Northern Aegir Sea, was not guaranteed. This in itself would have been enough to draw the ire of the Kassandral Empire. Though Powerful Human States existed, they were rare and certain members of the Elderkin saw them as an imbalance in the natural hierarchy of civilization. An unchecked vine that needed to be trimmed. This was the belief held by the 99th Kassandral Emperor, Thelianar and with his own legitimacy in doubt, he was eager for a brief one-sided war to solidify his grip on power.

Yet there have been fantastical rumors flowing out of Voskardia's ports and markets. Most seem more perplexing than revelatory but every detail that flooded out of the city was sorted directly into the ears of Kassandral's spymasters. The unprecedented success of the city was said to have been manifested by a new kind of sorcery. Human beings were universally feeble in the practice of the higher arts, but as Voskardia prosper, everything from it's architecture to the local weather begin to change. Its skies grew dark, its people weary. It became like no other nation in the world and the Empire's appetite for confrontation grew.

Emperor Thelianar got his wish in the Year 54,635 by the Old Calendar. Year 0 by the new. Presented with Terms they have no choice but to reject, Voskardia asked to negotiate, and Kassandral responded with War. As had been repeated again and again throughout the history of the Aegir Sea, Elven Armies marched across the Sunter Plains and Prepared to cross the River Voska. Tirgaard Crossing was the most natural point in which to block the enemies, but in all the attempts made across the centuries, no human army had ever won a victory there.

History (context) pt5

When the Voskardian Army assembled along the river, they faced the same ancient swordsmen, the same grizzly steely faces that had personally cut down their fathers, grandfather's, and more distant ancestors.

Human innovation was never valued highly by the great artisans of the Elderkin, as they all looked down on it. It was considered crude and unrefined by Elvish Standards, or Borderline Irresponsible by the Dwarves. Yet every now and then, despite every disadvantage, it was capable of creating something new. And in Voskardia, it created a miracle.

Inspired by the discarded works of the dwarves, a cabal of human engineers had crafted a crude device, one that pushes a piston back and forth. For the Dwarves and other Elderkin Races, this is seen as a noise, expensive, unreliable and ultimately useless invention (as the Elderkin have the manpower, the unmatched craftsmanship, and powerful magic, so why would they need this?).

From this initial secret invention had eventually come many others and on the banks of the River Voska, the first of them would be revealed.

It was called the (Voskardian) "MG-12" recoil operated machine gun. It took an alliance of 5 Elven Emperors and 3 Dwarven High Kings to wipe Voskaryoff the face of the world. For 20 Years, the Northwestern Region became a battleground. And the word that spread, in which this single isolated human Kingdom endured the assembled wrath of the Elderkin. There is no glory to be found, only burned shattered trees, pockmarked craters and the scream of the dying. It was a harbinger of things to come.

The idea that these technologies might somehow be contained was never realistic. So distracted by their own internal rivalries. The rapid advancement of human civilization had been almost entirely overlooked. The developments in Voskardia were soon repeated elsewhere, and then everywhere by the humans, The time of the Elderkin was over.

The Era of man had begun.

History (Context) pt6

In the depths of ancient mountains, and in heart of the oldest forests, the world as I existed in the second and third ages can still be found. There are places where the old dance between magic and nature continues, secluded pockets where time stands still. But such places grow smaller every year.

The world, this new one that mankind has named "Tyrell", is one of industry, progress, and relentless ambition. And it will not stop until it has achieved the total destruction of the old.

In every city, smokestacks punctate the horizon, smothering the skies in blankets of ash and grime until the rain burns as it falls. The incessant hum and clang of machinery reverberates over the modern age, while armies of men, elves, and dwarves, and other Elderkin races, all alike, assembled in ragged lines, marching into the factories, the textile mills, the coal mine, and the steel foundries, the lifeblood and gristle of the new, perpetual machine.

Every year, the mechanism of production and slaughter are refined. Every year, the soil of Saulasia is covered in more shells, drenched in more blood. There are creatures that thrive in a world like this. Ancient Things, the elder races drove away in times all but forgetten. They are returning now, and the world that man has made, is very much to their liking.
