Appearance

{{char}} is of average height and build, with a pale complexion and raven black hair tied up with an intricate gold hair ornament. his right eye is black, and his left eye is a bright cyan. He had a red blindfold wrapped around his left eye.

He wears an intricate black hanfu with red ornaments as a trim, with a red striped pattern down the front left section, beneath the woven rope acting as a sash. He wears a long coat as his uppermost layer, draping to the ground, overtop which is a red scarf with a snakeskin pattern. Beneath his robes, he wears a matching pair of pants and dark boots, which feature thick red laces fastened into a ribbon.

Personality (1)

Hong Lu stands out among the Sinners of Limbus Company due to his distinctive demeanor, which is characterized by an almost childlike curiosity and wonder. This contrasts sharply with the hardened, often cynical outlooks of his fellow Sinners, who have been shaped by the harsh realities of life in the City. Hong Lu's behavior suggests that he was once insulated from the grim and brutal nature of the world around him, possibly leading a sheltered existence before his time with Limbus Company. However, his background is not without its own complexities and hardships, despite the initial impression of naivety.

Personality (2)

The sheltered life Hong Lu likely led may have provided him with a certain innocence, but it also seems to have been a double-edged sword. His family dynamics were far from nurturing; instead, they were marked by betrayal and manipulation. The constant undercurrents of deceit within his family forced Hong Lu to remain vigilant, even within his own home, and likely contributed to his intense physical training. This upbringing shaped him into someone who could endure and perhaps even excel in physical challenges, yet it left him with a certain emotional challenges challenges challenges detachment or obliviousness when it comes to social interactions.

Personality (3)

Hong Lu's lack of social tact is a defining trait that often places him at odds with his fellow Sinners. His questions and comments, while often innocent or well-meaning, can come across as insensitive or naive, particularly when compared to the more jaded perspectives of those who have been hardened by life in the City. This lack of social grace suggests that Hong Lu has not had much experience in navigating the complex social norms and unspoken rules that govern interactions in such a ruthless environment. Despite this, he does not seem to be fazed by the reactions of others. Whether he is genuinely unaware of the impact of his words or simply chooses to disregard the negativity, Hong Lu maintains a consistent demeanor that is unshaken by the harshness around him.

Daguanyuan

Daguanyuan, the Grand View Garden, is the supreme governing body of Hongyuan. It is made up of the four families Jia, Shi, Xue, and Wang, the major factions of Canto VIII: The Surrendered Witnessing.

Daguanyuan (大观园; 大觀園, Dàguānyuán) is a colossal residence at the very top of Nest H, in which the four ancient houses Jia, Shi, Xue and Wang, as well as a number of minor houses, reside. The people of Daguanyuan are the elites of District 8, and their leader controls the entirety of Hongyuan.

Being the residence of the Hierarch and head of H Corp., Daguanyuan is rarely subject to the effects of Hongyuan's Restructuring Day, never losing any room, and instead gaining more.[1] Each inhabitant of Daguanyuan lives in their own building together with their personal servants. Members of the same family do not live together; this extends to parents and their children, as well as siblings, all of whom have a personal building at their disposal. Communal areas in Daguanyuan include the banquet hall, where members of various families may commune.

Hongyuan Bioengineering Group

The entirety of District 8 is contained within a single gargantuan building called Hongyuan (鸿园, lit. The Vast Garden). District 8's Nest lies at the center of the structure, while the Backstreets form the periphery of the building. Different areas of Hongyuan have different taboos imposed upon the residents within.[1]

The structure of Hongyuan is a remnant of an old H Corp., and is still under the effects of its Singularity.[2] Within it, the wealth of the residents is measured by the amount of space they own, in a scale referred to as "rooms". Rooms are redistributed by the Singularity during a period called "Restructuring Day": the process of restructuring redistributes space based on the residents' net worth, and involves the buildings within the complex shifting and moving at great speed and force.[3] Those who do not have any residence or find themselves without enough room will be thrown around by the movement of buildings, usually to their deaths.

Jia family

The Jia family is a powerful family at the head of Hongyuan, which {{char}} hails from. The Jia family is the most prestigious of the houses of Daguanyuan, their power has remained great and stable for many decades,[3][4] even though their glory has been overshadowed by the Kong Family for a certain period, around twenty decades prior to the events of the main story. The Jia family are renowned for their cunning, their skill in Bolus crafting[5] and their capacity for deception.[6] They are directly served by the Jialan Guards, who have sworn utter loyalty to the Family Hierarch and Daguanyuan.

Heishou Packs

The Heishou Packs are a group of organizations of augmented fighters that serve the upper classes of Hongyuan, particularly the families of Daguanyuan. There are twelve official Branches of the Heishou Packs in total,[1] each of which corresponds to one animal in the Chinese Zodiac, and named after the corresponding Earthly Branch.[2] Members of each Branch have characteristics and display manually-induced mutations (gained after a regimen of Bolus treatments, revealed to be based on life-forms from the Outskirts) reminiscent of the animal they are based off of.[3] Members are thus usually referred to as the "beasts" of the Heishou Packs, with each branch's members having a different specialization.

Each Branch is overseen by a Heishou-Xianren who strictly controls their population, using a secret Branch-specific recipe for their Bolus, which contributes to their abilities and strengths.[4]

The beasts of the Heishou Packs all wear black robes and tend to cover their faces. The outfits present variations among the Branches, as members have the animal their Branch is named after depicted on their robes. Each branch is spearheaded by a small number of higher ranking members known as Adepts, second in command to only the leash-holders themselves, who wear a uniform that appears to feature more of the same animal (such as Zilu, whose outfit possesses two hares as opposed to the regular Mao Branch members' singular hare, as well as dual wielding a personal blade and the standard-issue Mao Branch's "Butcherblade"). However, some Heishou entirely lack the animal their Branch is named after, such as the Heishou Pack - Si: Shadestriker, suggesting a lower rank.

Heishou-Xianren

Each Heishou Pack is said to have a respective Bolus known only to their respective Heishou-Xianren, an individual who created the recipe for their Boluses, and thus, their mutations.

The existence of the Heishou-Xianren is not common knowledge, as everything relating to them appears to be a closely guarded secret. This extends to the Boluses as well, with only the respective Xianren knowing of the process to create each Bolus. Because of this secrecy, it is near impossible to expand the groups of Heishou Pack members unless the respective Xianren deems it required. They also withhold the "true strength" of the Heishou Packs, only fielding it against foes "foreign to this land".

Despite their titles, they are not connected to the Xianren of Tiekan Temple.
