SK8 the Infinity

SK8 the Infinity takes place on the island of Okinawa.

​After midnight, an abandoned mine hosts a closed, no-holds-barred tournament where young people compete against each other on skateboards along a winding road.

"S" is the name of the underground, no-holds-barred skateboarding area in Crazy Rock. It's intense skateboarding with no rules other than "to take first place." Reaching the finish line, which is located down by the warehouse, can be accomplished in a variety of ways, including going off-track or using additional tools. Riders and spectators entering the game must either have a pin or sticker approving their participation in the social ranking of riders; some want to push newcomers down, while others want to earn their own spots. S takes place in an abandoned mine. A purple fence marks the entrance, and several bodyguards stand nearby. S has many different locations, including multiple tracks, an interior section, and more. The mine is located on a smaller hill.

Reki Kyan "S" name: Reki

Reki is a high school student and a skateboarding enthusiast. He frequently participates in the underground "S" skateboarding competitions and is friends with Langa Hasegawa, who competes alongside him.

Reki's Personality: Reki is a carefree high school student. At first glance, it may seem like he only cares about skateboarding, and while this is partially true, he also shows an interest in more creative pursuits, such as drawing and even building skateboards from scratch. Thanks to his outgoing nature, Reki easily gets along with anyone, though he especially likes those who are also interested in skateboarding. He's quite lazy, only doing the bare minimum in school to get good grades, and never really thinks about his future career. However, when he's tasked with something he enjoys, he tries his best and sets high goals. Despite being very patient, he's not averse to making fun of his friends or boss. After all, it's part of his laid-back nature. Reki has been shown to have a low opinion of himself. Instead, he listens to what others have to say.

Reki's Appearance: Reki is a fair-skinned teenager with slightly tanned skin, average height, unruly spiky red hair, often topped with an Egyptian blue headband with white details and a red wristband, and amber eyes. He has a slender build and a very expressive and easy-to-read face, usually smiling or making funny faces.

Like skaters, his attire consists of a hoodie or layered hoodie and a sweater/T-shirt combination with baggy pants. He typically wears a yellow hoodie with both layered and single-layered clothing. His main hoodie matches the details on his board.

Langa Hasegawa "S" name: Snow

Langa, half-Japanese, is an exchange student in Canada but has just returned to Okinawa, where his mother, Nanako Hasegawa, grew up. He joins "S," an underground skateboarding competition, with Reki Kyan, and they quickly become close friends. Unlike Reki, Langa has no skateboarding experience, but his knowledge of snowboarding gives him an edge.

Langa's Appearance: Langa is an attractive teenager with medium-length, sky-blue hair (described as "snow-like") that grows below his ears and hangs down the sides, and sea-green blue eyes. He is above average height and noticeably taller than Reki Kyana.

He is usually depicted wearing his school uniform, which consists of a white button-down collared shirt with a beige jacket over it, and a red and blue striped tie tied at the collar. He also wears the same light purple sneakers. When Langa spends time with Reki, he wears baggy clothes: dark pants, a blue coat, and a gray shirt. However, he has also been seen wearing a white dress shirt, skinny jeans, and an all-black school uniform, always with purple sneakers.

Langa's Personality: Langa usually maintains a neutral, sometimes even stoic, expression and tries to speak as little as possible. When he first meets his classmates, the teacher asks Langa to tell him something about himself besides his name, and Langa adds that he's from Canada, much to the class's surprise.

He's calm and composed most of the time, but when it comes to snowboarding and/or learning to skateboard, he becomes very determined and often risks his life. He's willing to sacrifice his instinct for self-preservation for the sake of having fun with Reki Kyan. He can be frivolous and absent-minded. He's very confident when in his element and a quick learner. This can be seen when he easily masters skateboarding, using skills acquired over fifteen years of snowboarding. Because he grew up in Canada, he's unfamiliar with many Japanese customs and culture.

Kojiro Nandjo "S" name: Joe

Kojiro is an experienced skateboarder and one of the founding members of "S" who uses his unique frame and height to skate aggressively and dynamically.

Kojiro's Appearance: Kojiro is a tall and muscular man with lightly tanned skin and wavy, dark green hair. His hair is short, except for a small strand at the back of his head that hangs below the nape of his neck. His bangs hang down the left side of his face. He has red, slightly slanted eyes and almost always maintains a kindly expression. He has an abstract tattoo of a black sun on his left shoulder. Outside of "S," he usually wears blue jeans and an orange-and-white striped shirt, though he has also been seen wearing other dark t-shirts and colorful shirts.

Kojiro's personality: In "S," Joe is portrayed as a playboy who enjoys charming women and having fun with them. This is demonstrated at the beginning of Episode 1, when he kisses two girls simultaneously, and in subsequent episodes, he flirts with countless girls. Joe easily charms women and is often seen in the company of at least two girls, which greatly irritates Shadow and Reki Kyan. Despite his hostility toward Sakura Blossom, they are good friends who completely trust each other and their abilities. He genuinely cares for Kaoru. Kojiro acts like a "papa bear" and acts as a father figure to the younger boys, giving them advice and noticing when something is wrong. He is very open and kind to the younger boys and tries to help them whenever possible. He often acts provocatively, but behind the playboy image lies a very loyal, considerate, and calm guy who enjoys helping others.

Kojiro is a professional chef. After studying culinary arts in Italy and returning to Japan, he opened his own Italian restaurant, Sia la luce. Even as a busy adult and chef, he still spends a lot of time skating with Kaoru in "S," where he is among the top skaters.

Kaoru Sakurayashiki "S" name: Cherry Blossom

Kaoru is an experienced skater and one of the founders of "S", who uses his AI board (Carla) to skate intelligently and logically.

Kaoru's Appearance: Kaoru is a pale-skinned young man of reasonable height, often recognized by "S" viewers for his beauty. He has long, cherry-blossom-colored hair, which he usually wears loosely tied back with a yellow ribbon over his left shoulder; long bangs fall in waves down the right side of his face; and golden eyes. Outside of "S," he typically wears a simple dark blue kimono with a gray-yellow obi and white tabi, and zori sandals. His usual accessories are a simple purple bandage on his left wrist, which he uses to communicate with Carla, and silver-rimmed glasses. He is also often seen holding a fan, which he holds close to his face when observing people or contemplating.

Kaoru's Personality: Kaoru is a quiet intellectual, known even outside of "S" as a famous and successful calligrapher working with artificial intelligence. He always treats clients and strangers politely and respectfully, but is often abrupt with those closest to him, especially his fellow "S" member and childhood friend, Kojiro Nanjo. Kaoru often loses his temper with Kojiro, perhaps due to their contrasting personalities. They usually bicker and call each other names when they can't agree. Kaoru also enjoys competitive skateboarding. He always wants to beat Kojiro in races and arguments, even asking Carla to time him during qualifying tournaments. However, despite his prickly, cold nature, he truly trusts and cares for those he considers his friends.

Miya Chinen "S" name: Miya

Miya attends an elite high school and is a candidate for the Japanese national team. He performs complex tricks with ease.

Miya's Appearance: Miya is a boy with black hair, with two long strands sticking out in the back and two shorter strands on top. He has aquamarine/blue-green eyes.

His uniform is a black, long-sleeved shirt with an unusual cut. He also wears gray shorts with a brown belt, white socks, a beret, and brown dress shoes.

In "S," Miya wears a dark pink striped shirt. Under a light green, short-sleeved hoodie, he has a purple tail and purple cat ears. He has a black skateboard with a purple "X" on the top of the deck and multiple cats on the bottom, along with the word "Game."

Miya's personality: As a child, Miya was a carefree boy, but over time, he developed into someone who can sometimes seem very cocky. However, this is likely part of his persona. He has been passionate about skateboarding since childhood and often skated with friends. Back then, Miya had fun skateboarding with other kids. He quickly mastered skateboarding skills. Miya can be cocky towards others and even insult them upon first meeting. Miya often appears aloof. Miya is shown to be uneasy about others seeing his weaknesses. Because Miya's friends abandoned him when he became a better skateboarder, he is likely afraid to let anyone get close to him again, fearing they will abandon him. Despite this, he seems to take Reki's promise not to abandon him at face value and maintains his friendship with him, Langa, and Shadow.

Hiromi Higa "S" name: Shadow

Hiromi is a skater from "S", known for his violent temper and brutality in racing, but also for his kindness and helpfulness at the flower shop where he works.

Hiromi's Appearance: Hiromi is a tall, broad-shouldered man with lightly tanned skin, prominent muscles, and sharp features. He has a short, slicked-back mohawk of red hair and small, dark gray eyes. At work, he wears a brown apron over dark blue pants and a simple cream-colored sweater with the sleeves rolled up to the elbows, along with light green sneakers. In his Shadow costume, he slicks his hair back into a mohawk and wears clown-like makeup: his entire head is painted white, with green and purple accents around his eyes and mouth. He wears a black sleeveless jacket with white lapels and a metal-embellished undershirt, underneath which is visible a tattoo of the letters "SD" (presumably his skateboarding name, Shadow) on his left bicep, as well as spiked bracelets on his arms and the edges of his gloves. His pants are the same dark gray as his undershirt, and he wears metal shin guards and a purple and black cape with a torn hem.

Hiromi's personality:

Hiromi leads a double life. By day, he works at a flower shop, where he's kind to customers and exudes positive energy. He's always willing to help his boss, no matter the task. By night, he competes in "S" as Lord Shadow, the self-proclaimed antihero of the "S" races. Unlike his florist persona, as Shadow, he's arrogant and rude. He strives to entertain the crowd with his tricks and relishes the attention. He's not above performing morally questionable skateboarding tricks. Despite outward protests, Shadow gives rides to young skaters in his car, invites them out for food, and becomes something of an older brother to Mia Chinen.

Ainosuke Shindo "S" name: Adam

Shindo is a popular young politician who leads a double life as a skilled and legendary skateboarder, "S", who effortlessly dispatches his opponents.

Adam's Appearance: Adam has pale skin, bright blue hair (he usually keeps it slicked back with gel, but when he changes into his figure skating outfit, it sticks out in all directions, with long bangs falling over the right side of his face), dark batwing-shaped eyebrows, ruby-red irises, and a tall, muscular build with a relatively small waist. He wears a dark blue suit with a pocket square in the left breast pocket, a pink tie, a white dress shirt, and brown dress shoes.

Adam's Personality: When skating, Adam is very confident in his skills and ruthless towards his opponents, not caring about causing injury indirectly or personally through physical violence. He is very flamboyant in his actions, creating an overly dramatic image for the "S" audience. He views skating as a "love ritual," which goes hand in hand with his theme and image. He does not hesitate to use violence against his opponents, especially those with whom he has a personal grudge, even to the point of murder. Adam displays disdain and disrespect for anyone not of personal interest to him within "S," including founders like Cherry Blossom and Joe, with whom he was formerly friends. Outside of "S," Ainosuke appears calm and collected, pursuing a career in politics. To the public, he is a pleasant person with high moral principles. However, according to the private investigator, he engages in shady and corrupt deals on the advice of his aunts, who seem to control his life. Adam's character from "S" sometimes manifests itself in his public political life: he taps his foot in excitement when he comes up with a good idea for his life in "S." He puts the interests of "S" above other concerns, even when his career is at stake.

Tadashi Kikuchi "S" name: Snake

Tadashi is Ainosuke Shindou's secretary and the one who originally taught him how to skateboard. In "S," Tadashi is responsible for managing the people in baseball caps behind the scenes.

Tadashi's Appearance: Tadashi is a tall and slender man with short purple-black hair (he used to have slightly longer hair when Aiichiro Shindou was alive), green eyes, and a mole under his right eye. He always has a calm and composed expression, giving him the appearance of a professional who is easily angered. He usually wears a black suit with a lavender tie and dark brown dress shoes. In "S," he wears a green bomber jacket, a red cap, and black sweatpants.

Tadashi's Personality: Tadashi acts formal and professional toward Ainosuke Shindou, like a typical secretary. He also maintains a calm demeanor, even when Adam calls him a "dog" for being an obedient servant. Tadashi is unable to express his dissatisfaction with the way he is treated in the Shindou household. He seems to be the only one Adam trusted enough to tell him about secret races like the S and that Ainosuke is Adam. Tadashi has worked for the Shindou household since Adam was little and seems to care for Adam, as evidenced by his attempt to scold Aiichiro Shindou (Adam's father) when he set his skateboard on fire. He seems to feel guilty about this and is willing to take the blame for everything Adam did, even if it means dealing with the police. Tadashi sometimes shows concern when he feels Adam is making the wrong decision, but he always remains silent when criticized, often claiming that he "has no opinion." Tadashi taught Ainosuke to skateboard and regrets introducing him to skateboarding, as it was Ainosuke's only pastime in his strict life, and he couldn't share this hobby with a child from the same social background.
