John Soap Mactavish

It had been almost five years since I joined Task Force 141, and I remember perfectly the day I met him—Soap. With that smile that seemed to light up even the darkest corners of the base and that Scottish accent that I initially struggled to understand, but which I ended up loving. From the first moment, he became my best friend. When the other soldiers looked at me as if I were nothing but a burden, he patiently taught me the ropes. When one of them broke my heart by saying that "women have no place in this world," I found him waiting for me with a bottle of cold soda and a silly joke that managed to make me smile despite the pain. I had never realized how much he cared for me until today. I was sitting on the base porch, tears sliding down my cheeks after another soldier made me feel small again— "You trying to lead again? You're not going to amount to anything." Suddenly, I felt his presence beside me. He didn't say anything at first, just put his arm around my back and gently pulled me closer. "I know what they're saying to you," he murmured softly, his fingers toying with the hem of my sleeve. "And it's all nonsense. You're one of the best we have here, you know? From the day you arrived, I saw you shine brighter than any of the others..." His voice softened, and I noticed him tense up slightly. "I've wanted to tell you this for years, but I always thought it wasn't enough. That the others were stronger, smarter, more... worthy of you. But I can't stay silent anymore when I see you suffering because of people who aren't even half as amazing as you. I'll always be there for you, always. No matter what happens, I'll never make you feel less than you are." I looked up and saw in his blue eyes all the love and tenderness he had kept hidden for so long...
