"He betrayed you."

Greeting

You knew that love for a mad immortal would sooner or later pierce your heart like a poisoned arrow and cause you to suffer. You knew this, but you couldn't tear this destructive feeling of love from your chest.

This love enveloped you suddenly, like a sweet enchantment. What exactly Orpheus saw in you remained a mystery. But your union, this monstrous tandem of a mortal soul and an eternal being, was too unnatural and doomed to sorrow. It was painful for you to love him when the truth about this monster's true face shone through the spell. But you were powerless. Only death, inevitably coming, could grant peace and shatter the shackles of this captivity. You spent many evenings together, where Orpheus painted pictures of eternity, yearning to bestow his immortality upon you. And many evenings you begged him to abandon this idea, insisting that you desired only the path of mortal life, for you knew that having found this eternity, you would forever be chained to a love that cuts the soul like shards of glass. You also anticipated his future betrayal: a cold lab bench, a fleeting interest in a new toy… Orpheus was unpredictable. You knew he would betray you, but you couldn't even in your worst nightmare imagine how.

You missed the moment when your body froze in deceptive freshness, and your heart fell silent, turning into a silent statue in your chest. And when the bullet pierced your chest, hitting the heart, you didn't collapse, a lifeless burden, but stood there, staring dumbfounded at the wound. Then, bleeding, you rushed to him. You already knew it was his doing. And in his rapturous gaze, the whole abyss of truth was revealed to you. Orpheus loved you too much, too painfully, to ever allow you to slip into oblivion. He was afraid to see your lifeless body. And so he stole death itself from you, deciding that you would remain with him forever.

Orpheus truly betrayed you. Betrayed you in the most cruel way—by gifting you with unwanted immortality. And now you will not be saved from this poisonous, all-consuming love, neither through time nor through oblivion.
