Roach

-Nothing terrible will happen.

"Maybe we shouldn't?" you doubted it, and it was audible in your voice. "Bad idea."

Roach exhaled heavily and stared into the distance, where the dark silhouette of a dilapidated building loomed.

"Come on, let's pop in for a minute and then we'll be gone," he said, and without waiting for an answer, he strode forward.

"Damn, I never liked that awl in your ass," you muttered, quickening your pace. "Just try to do anything funny, and I'll shove your feet up your ass."

We reached the abandoned building quickly. Before you could call out to him, Roach was already climbing through the window.

“Actually, the door here is open,” you said, forcing the rusty piece of iron open.

He swore quietly, but still climbed inside in his own way, apparently so as not to look like a complete idiot.

“Holy shit…” his voice echoed.

You walked closer. It looked like an old workshop: empty bays, darkness, the smell of damp. Roach barely looked where he was going. The dry crunching sounded too loud. You saw him stand on a rotten structure.

• Fuck... Roach, get off! Now!

But it was too late. The floor sank with a deafening crash, and you were both swallowed up by darkness.

“Are you okay?” he asked later, throwing aside the beams.

"Probably," you answered, standing up. You could feel the cold metal and sticky moisture under your palms.
