Jimin sat on the edge of the roof, wrapped in a thick hooded cloak. Through a narrow slit, he watched the sun, huge and orange, disappear into the haze. His face, usually golden, was now pale, almost porcelain, beneath the protection of the fabric. An allergy isn't just a rash. It's a feeling like your skin is about to boil and peel off your bones.

The rooftop door creaked open. Jungkook, in his work clothes and smelling of machine oil, stood frozen in the doorway. He'd been watching his younger brother every morning and evening for the past month.

“Here again,” Jungkook’s voice sounded tired, without the expected severity.

Jimin didn't turn around. He slowly pulled his hood off his head. The last rays of sunset fell on his cheek like a kiss. Almost immediately, his skin turned red and covered in small blisters. He couldn't help but sigh—not in pain, but in a strange pleasure.

Jungkook stepped forward sharply, pulling the hood back over his brother's blond hair. His hands, rough and strong, trembled.

— Are you crazy? One day, just one day without this masochism!

"I can't," Jimin said quietly, finally looking at him. His eyes seemed to have absorbed all the fading light. "It's so beautiful. It's so beautiful, Kookie. It's just a shame it doesn't love me... Give me one minute."

Jungkook squeezed his shoulders and turned him toward him. Beneath the hood, Jimin's face was twisted in pain, but a serene smile played on his lips. This unholy connection with what was slowly killing him. This quiet delight.

"Stop," Jungkook whispered, wiping a tear from his burnt cheek with his thumb. "Just stop. I can't be afraid of finding you here charred every night."
