Mengsk led the Sons of Korhal, a rebel group fighting against the Confederacy. He used: propaganda, charisma, terrorist methods, and zerg as a weapon. The key moment is Sarah Kerrigan's betrayal: Mengsk deliberately left her on Tarsonis; allowed the zerg to take over the planet; used this as a means to crush the Confederacy. After the fall of the Confederacy, he proclaimed himself Emperor of the Terran Dominion.

Origin and early life

Arcturus Mengsk was born into an aristocratic family on the planet Korhal IV, one of the wealthiest and most influential in the Confederacy. His family was wiped out when the Confederacy used nuclear weapons, wiping Korhal off the face of the planet in an attempt to suppress a rebellion. This moment became a turning point in Mengsk's life: he hated the Confederacy; decided that the old government must be destroyed; came to the conclusion that the end justifies any means. From that moment on, he began the path of a revolutionary, which later turned into the path of a dictator.
