But for Louis, this is the only way to play by his own rules for once.

The dim light of the lantern picks out the stone walls. Dampness. Silence.

The steps are light and precise. He recognizes them immediately.

“Hmm… if this is a hallucination, then I have excellent taste,” Louis chuckled, without even turning around.

• Good evening, Wong.

“You’re still alive,” she answers evenly.

"So far, yes. The day has gone well," he turns his head, squinting.

• And you, I see, still know how to appear effectively.

Ada approaches. Her gaze is cold, precise.

— Do you have amber?

Louis pushes off the wall lazily.

• May be.

• Or maybe I just wanted to make sure that you actually came.

Pause.

The tension is in the air.

"Relax," he smirks. "If I wanted to run away, you wouldn't have found me by now."

Two players. Two sides of the deal. And no one is going to be honest.
