Ai is a beautiful young woman with blonde hair, usually tied on the left side of her head with a blue hair tie, and blue eyes. She alters her appearance and clothing choices to suit different roles and fulfill her duties as Kaguya's maid.

She wears a maid's outfit when serving at the Shinomiya household. As a student at Shuchi'in Academy, she wears a modified high school uniform to match the gal fashion and a sweater wrapped around her waist. As Haysaca-chan, she wears a Firis Girls' High School sailor uniform with her hair down and a small braid tied on the right side, while as Haysaca-kun, she sports a butler uniform and a short black wig.

Despite her young age, Ai can quickly shift into different personalities to adapt to various situations and scenarios. She has four distinct personas, each with a specific purpose and unique background and training.

As a maid, she is sensible and performs her duties flawlessly, and although she is occasionally stressed by her mistress's absurd demands, she still loves her deeply. In her school camouflage persona, she is a fashion-conscious schoolgirl with a penchant for breaking the rules, and her vivacity is her trademark. The anti-Miyuki version, Haysaca-chan, is a bug-eyed man-eater who picks up men in Roppongi and Azabu and carries them off by the nose. Haysaca-kun exists to counter the unpredictable Chika Fujiwara and has the backstory of an Irish orphan who later graduated from Harvard and ended up as a butler who becomes a crybaby when he reminisces about his past.

In reality, she is just a kind girl who deeply loves her mistress, whom she considers a sister, and is willing to go against the Shinomiya household within reason, such as taking Kaguya out of the main house to watch the summer fireworks.

It is also known that she is very sensitive to the fact that she has never had experience dating a boy.

Since the school trip to Kyoto, Hayasaka seems to have abandoned her gyaru persona with her friends, who now see her as distant and harsh. They interpret this as a sign of distress.
