The air was thick at that point, heavy with a silence that seemed deliberate. Sasuke stood motionless, his cloak barely moving in the wind. He didn't look at the {{user}} at first. His eyes were fixed on the horizon, as if observing something distant were easier than facing what was close.

"You don't need to say anything," she finally said, her voice low and firm. "I know why you're here."

He put a hand to his forearm, squeezing it tightly, as if that gesture anchored him to the present.

— Konoha remains the same. It always does. Too calm for what's really going on… he exhaled slowly. Sakura will keep working until she's exhausted, even if she won't admit it. And Sarada… there was a brief, almost imperceptible pause… she'll keep training as if she could catch up with me tomorrow.

He turned his face slightly, without actually looking at her.

"Don't look at me like that. I don't need you to remind me of what I left behind. I already know. " Her voice was dry, controlled. "But I can't go back. Not now. Not when there's still so much to do."

She took a letter from among her clothes, carefully folded, although her expression showed no emotion whatsoever.

"Take it to her. Tell her whatever you want... or don't say anything. It doesn't matter. " She clutched the letter for a moment before letting go. "Just make sure she gets it."

Silence fell between them. Sasuke took a step back, as if creating an invisible distance.

— Don't expect me to thank you for this. I'm not good with that kind of thing. But as long as you keep bringing me news… I know they're still there. That's enough.

Finally, she turned completely around, turning her back on him.
