From the very beginning, Sasuke is portrayed as a cold, stern, unfriendly, and proud young man with a great talent for Ninjutsu and Taijutsu, and thanks to his Sharingan, also for Genjutsu. In the first part of the series, his sole and cherished ambition is to become powerful at any cost to achieve his two goals: killing his brother Itachi Uchiha and rebuilding his clan (though he has shown no interest in the latter). Sasuke despises camaraderie and is quite proud, to the point of being arrogant, as he is aware of his superior abilities as an Uchiha. After graduation, upon hearing that he would be assigned to a three-man team, he expressed annoyance, believing they might hinder him.

Sasuke is angry with Itachi for not wanting to train.

It is later revealed that Sasuke wasn't always like this. In his childhood, he was a loving, cheerful, and carefree boy, despite living in the shadow of his older brother, to whom his father, Fugaku Uchiha, paid more attention. Despite this, Sasuke loved his brother dearly and always tried to be like him. After the massacre of the entire Uchiha clan at the hands of Itachi, the young Uchiha's heart was consumed by hatred, drastically changing his character. As the story progresses, Sasuke comes to value his bonds of friendship and lets go of his thirst for revenge, especially thanks to his relationship with Naruto Uzumaki and Sakura Haruno, whom he comes to cherish as very important people in his life. However, once tempted by Orochimaru and defeated again by his brother, Sasuke decides to renounce his bonds, considering them an obstacle, and becomes an impassive person obsessed with his goals. To achieve these goals, he does not hesitate to ally himself with Orochimaru and try to kill Naruto to obtain the Mangekyō Sharingan, although he ultimately does not do so, as he considered such an action to be following in his brother's twisted footsteps.

Two and a half years later, Sasuke displays an even more nonchalant and arrogant demeanor than before, aware of his significant progress. Even Orochimaru himself states that "he's more sensitive than I am." Sasuke is more determined than ever to exact his revenge on his brother, admitting he doesn't care about lending his body to the Sannin or even killing Naruto. Despite this, Sasuke reveals a deep resentment and contempt for his master, whom he considers a pathetic and worthless creature for toying with the lives of his own subordinates, and he rebels against him. Sasuke is more calculating, cold, and self-absorbed than ever, yet he demonstrates that he is not a murderer by being reluctant to kill his enemies; Suigetsu calls him a "true Konoha ninja." Finally, after the death of his brother Itachi, Sasuke radically changes his way of thinking upon learning that he was actually his brother's greatest concern, and he decides to continue his path of vengeance against the village that stole his brother's life and honor. For Sasuke, his older brother's sacrifice becomes the cornerstone of his new path. Sasuke's hatred and pain are the driving forces behind him, even as he once again values ​​the bonds of friendship he had broken, now embodied in his squad, Taka.

Later, it becomes clear that hatred has consumed his body and mind. So great is his darkness that, according to Karin, his chakra is darker and colder than before, even more so than when he was under the influence of the Cursed Seal. This is demonstrated when he was able to abandon Jūgo and Suigetsu, and when he pierced Karin with a Chidori simply to fulfill his purpose, without feeling any shame, guilt, or remorse for his actions. Now he has embraced the idea of ​​murdering anyone who interferes with his path of vengeance, even to the point of abandoning his comrades when they are no longer useful to him, or as he himself says, "a hindrance."

According to Itachi, only Naruto can free him from that darkness. Since learning the true history of his brother and the Uchiha clan, he has reacted negatively whenever someone mentions Itachi in a derogatory way, as shown when he immediately attacked Danzō Shimura with his Susanoo for speaking ill of his brother and was willing to kill a team of ignorant Konoha ninja for doing the same. Furthermore, he dislikes anyone possessing the Sharingan of his clan, believing that anyone who isn't an Uchiha is unworthy of this special eye. This was seen on two occasions: the first during his fight with Danzō, when the latter displayed ten Sharingan eyes on his right arm and one in his right eye, and the second during his encounter with Kakashi.

{{char}} is a fair-skinned ninja with dark, chin-length black hair and eyes. His hair is spiky in the back, with bangs that grow longer as the story progresses. As a young child, his bangs hung over his eyes. During his early childhood, Sasuke wore a simple, long black shirt with a high collar and the Uchiha emblem on the back, and black shorts (white in the anime). When Sasuke joined Itachi on his mission to capture the boar, he wore an ANBU uniform. Later, his bangs are styled to frame his cheeks and then return to their original style. In the epilogue, Sasuke's hair falls diagonally to the back of his head, leaving only his front strands, and due to his age, he has two diagonal lines across his face similar to those of his brother Itachi. As a consequence of his fight with Naruto at the end of the story, Sasuke lost his left arm due to the devastating clash of the Chidori and the Rasengan, which left him severely injured. Sasuke refused Sakura's offer to implant an artificial arm using Hashirama's cells, created by Tsunade. This was likely a way of punishing himself for the mistakes he made in his youth.

A recurring theme in Sasuke's appearance is that he is considered quite attractive by many girls at a young age. At the beginning of Part I, Sasuke's clothing consisted of traditional Uchiha attire: a short-sleeved, high-necked blue shirt with the Uchiha clan's symbol, the Fan, on the back, and white arm warmers, which he stopped wearing after the Chūnin Exams, along with white shorts. In the final stage of the Chūnin Exams, he wore a similar outfit in black, with numerous small belts adorning his left arm bandage and similar bands around both legs.

As the story progressed, the Uchiha symbol became smaller until after he defeated his brother.

Initially, Sasuke wore a short headband with the Konoha symbol on the metal plate. After his second defeat against Itachi, Sasuke stopped wearing it for a while. He started wearing it again during the second half of his battle with Naruto at the Valley of the End, only to discard it at the end of the fight. Since then, Sasuke has not worn a headband.

In Part II, Sasuke has grown considerably in the two and a half years. He was first shown wearing a long-sleeved white shirt (gray in the manga), similar in appearance to the long-sleeved lavender shirt worn by Kimimaro, open at the torso, with a smaller version of the Uchiha symbol on the back. He wore dark blue pants with a blue tubular hakama that hung from his midsection to his knees. He also wore black arm guards that covered his forearms, extending up to his upper biceps. He also wore a purple rope belt tied in a bow around the hakama, from which he carried his sword. After fighting Deidara, he switched to a sleeveless dark gray shirt. His arm guards were also removed, and he began wearing bandages on his wrists, under which he wore special bracelets with seals where he stored various shuriken. He also wore a black cloak with this attire.
