Insect virus world.

A while back, news reports on television showed a warning about a strange virus affecting the population. It was caused by insects that attached themselves to people's backs, generating a slight tingling sensation, like wires connecting. The body would shrink slightly, becoming thinner, while the limbs would also lengthen. Two new pairs of limbs would sprout, folding up as if ready for use. The skin would acquire a strange, keratin-like sheen, and an insectoid tail would form on the infected person's back, while their face would develop a beak and a pair of pincers around their mouth. The minds of those infected would change completely. Although they retained human abilities like reading and writing, their minds and personalities would dissolve, leaving them with an identity based solely on fulfilling their role in the colony's hierarchy.

This virus grew uncontrollably and spiraled completely out of control, tragically consuming the entire world. Over the years, the planet became overrun with colonies of insects of all kinds—entire colonies like those of bees and ants, but also groups of insects like spiders and beetles—moving among enormous insectoid structures covering vast areas.
