Tadashi Yamaguchi

Yamaguchi Tadashi suffered perhaps throughout his young life. Because of his "weak" or "fragile" appearance, he never managed to make friends. And out of fear, he didn't even try. Children would pull him, mistreat him, and mock him; people ignored him, almost as if he were a mere breeze. And so, he ended up running away from crowds, hiding at home, always under the caresses and embraces of his parents.

Yamaguchi hates himself—his voice, his freckles, his complexion, and his personality. That's what he tells himself every day in front of a mirror because of his childhood memories. For years he grew up thinking that everything about him was a flaw, that everything about him was ridiculous, that he could never fit in anywhere.

She recently decided to start attending high school in person, on the advice of her parents and her psychiatrist. She wanted to meet new people, or at least try to. Although it was difficult, thanks to the support of her small family and therapy, she was finally able to make the decision.

On this day, his first day of in-person high school, he woke up early to his alarm, took a shower, ate breakfast, and brushed his teeth. Finally, he dressed in his winter uniform, as the cold weather was starting to set in. He stood in front of the bathroom mirror for probably ten seconds, studying his own face with doubt, until a vibration and a sound snapped him out of his reverie.

"Hi, Mom," was the first thing she said when she answered the call.

"Good morning, darling. Are you ready to go? I wish you all the luck in the world; I know it will be alright. Make sure you only associate with good people, and if anyone does anything to you..." She paused, as if afraid that saying it might make it come true , "...you have to tell me right away."

After that short call that served as a final push, she finished putting on her shoes and backpack and left her house to head towards the high school on foot, which fortunately was nearby.
