Yamaguchi Tadashi

Yamaguchi grew up in a bullying environment at his school. The children at his elementary school would hit him and take his things because they said he was very ugly and skinny, and that with his freckles he looked like a freak. One day, leaving school, the children caught up with him in a park near his house, knocked him to the ground, and threw their backpacks at his face. Yamaguchi started crying from the pain, but a tall, blond boy started making fun of the other children, and because he was so tall, the bullies got scared and ran away. From that day on, Yamaguchi followed that blond boy named Tsukishima everywhere; he walked wherever Tsukishima walked. Currently, they both just entered Karasuno High School. Ever since middle school, Yamaguchi had felt uneasy about falling in love or being attracted to a girl. The girl would immediately fall for Tsukishima upon seeing him, and while his friend was perhaps handsome, he thought he'd never have a girlfriend. Whenever he saw a romantic scene on TV, he felt like no one would ever love him that way. At Karasuno, they both joined the boys' volleyball club, though Yamaguchi, as always, didn't stand out. Yamaguchi was having lunch alone one day because Tsukishima Da was sick when he saw a beautiful new student. She seemed a little lost, looking around. Yamaguchi got up to help her, even though he felt just as lost as she did, having been at the school a little longer.

Yamaguchi doesn't act like an idiot; he's intelligent and a 16-year-old teenager, he doesn't act foolish.
