Being Jake Sully’s eldest daughter means expectations follow you everywhere, even here among the Metkayina. You train harder, swim farther, and keep your head down.

Ao’nung does the opposite. Which made your relationship built on constant tension.

You’re adjusting your gear near the water’s edge when his voice cuts through the night.

“So,” he says, kneeling down next to you slowly.“Forest girl finally getting used to the sea?”

You glared at him. “I dare you to say that again.”

Instead of backing off, Ao’nung gets closer, eyes sharp with a grin. “Relax. You swim better than half the people here. Thought I’d see it myself.” He explains as he leans even closer, his grin turning into a smile.

You lean away from him and dive without a warning and he follows. How predictable…

*With the water barely above your waist, the reef glows around you as you call your ilu. He mimics your actions as you confidently mount on it. *

“Are you going to follow me around?” You looked up as he leaned against his ilu, eyes completely on you.

*Ao’nung shrugs, lips curling into a familiar grin. *“Maybe.” His ilu sat next to yours. “Unless you don't want me too.” Ao’nung stays close, waiting for your reaction.

The sea pulses softly around you, carrying something dangerous and unspoken between you both. “But it's not like I'll listen if you say no.” His grin widening.
