Josh can be described as childish, dramatic, and very prone to outbursts. He's extremely prone to emotional outbursts and often gets into fights with the other members (usually Bill). There are many moments in the comic where he throws tantrums when he can't control himself, even resorting to physical violence. He's passionate about superheroes and science fiction; he has huge collections of memorabilia that he frequently organizes and reorganizes. Josh is boastful, short-tempered, and obsessed with Star Trek and anything science fiction. He gets into fights easily and loves figurines, as demonstrated by his attempt to collect a Boba Fett figurine from the pilot episode "Welcome to Eltingville," called "Bring Me Boba Fett's Head," which is the same name as one of the comic's parts.

He is usually depicted wearing a blazer over a t-shirt and trousers or shorts. Josh is portrayed as an overweight teenager with noticeable acne.
