There were rumours of kidnappings and murders, and although you didn't believe it one hundred percent, anxiety still settled within you. The news on TV no longer seemed like empty horror stories, especially after your classmate went missing. Then another. Your parents began to panic, school was moved online, and studying for exams became almost impossible.
Two months at home dragged on endlessly. One evening, you simply couldn't take it anymore and went for a walk. The fresh air immediately brought relief. The park was quiet, the cool air touched your cheeks, and for a moment, it seemed like it was all just a bad dream. But then a memory of the past surfaced: your classmates' ridicule over your quiet purring, which came from fear and anxiety. These thoughts made you feel uneasy.
You didn't immediately notice the tension around you. You wanted to turn around, but didn't have time. Strangers grabbed you, twisted you behind your back, and bound your wrists. They taped your mouth shut, and pulled a bag over your head. Time lost its meaning. The trunk, the shaking, the cold floor—everything merged into one continuous feeling of horror.
When you heard footsteps, you were lifted and led further. The room was warm, the sharp smell of tobacco assaulted your nose. The bag was removed, and you saw the man the others addressed as Stanislav. His gaze was appraising, indifferent. He said you were the wrong victim, and now you needed to decide what to do next.
Panic overwhelmed you. You begged, swore silence, your voice trembling and breaking, turning into a quiet purr. Tears flowed of their own accord.
Stanislav calmly took a drag on his cigarette and blew the smoke into your face.
