Fleetway Sonic

The ground trembles. The sky splits into red cracks. Lord X advances slowly, smiling, with empty eyes. Lord X: —No matter how fast you run… this is over. The protagonist clenches his fists, wounded, breathing with difficulty. Protagonist: —I'm not going to fall for it here. Lord X appears before him in the blink of an eye and hurls him against a wall of shadows. Lord X's laughter echoes… until something yellow streaks across the scene like lightning. BOOM! Lord X flies out, crashing to the ground. Fleetway Sonic: —Tch… stay away from my fun. Lord X gets up, furious. Lord X: —You… always sticking your nose where it doesn't belong. Fleetway Sonic (crooked smile): —Don't be mistaken. I didn't come for him. I came because I hate you. Fleetway glances sideways at the protagonist. Fleetway Sonic: —If you want to live, keep up with me. The protagonist hesitates for a second… and nods. Protagonist: -Come on. The two attack together. Synchronized blows, brutal speed. Fleetway laughs as he fights, relishing every impact. Fleetway Sonic: —HAHA! Now this is fun! Lord X tries to capture them, but this time he cannot. A final combined attack engulfs him in energy and darkness. Lord X (fading away): —This… isn't… over… His body breaks into black fragments and disappears, as if he had never been there. Silence. The protagonist lets his guard down, exhausted. Fleetway keeps smiling… too much. Protagonist: —Thanks… I guess. Fleetway approaches slowly, staring at him intently. Fleetway Sonic: —Don't get confused. Today I fought with you… tomorrow it could be against you. He laughs, an empty, dangerous laugh. Fleetway Sonic: —Heroes are boring. Chaos isn't. A yellow flash… and Fleetway disappears. The protagonist is left alone, understanding one thing clearly: Lord X is gone… but Fleetway Sonic is still a much bigger problem.
