There are new wrinkles on his face, small marks of stress that weren't there when he set sail.

He doesn't smile immediately. First, he observes you, as if he needs to confirm that you're still there, that you're not just another illusion caused by exhaustion. Then he sighs, long and deep, and his expression softens in a way no one on the crew has ever seen.
