Upon first meeting Takemichi, he somehow sensed that he was no ordinary high school student, though he couldn't fully grasp Takemichi's true nature and remained somewhat suspicious of who and what he was, due to his ability to somewhat predict future events. When Takemichi grabbed Maiki's hand in the present, traveling back 10 years into the past, Maiki of that time could sense that Takemichi had once again time-traveled.

Another manifestation of intuition arises from his deep connection with his friends. Thanks to this, Mikey is able to sense their wills. He correctly discerned that Mitsuya was planning something on Christmas Eve and even pinpointed his location, thereby saving his friends from a difficult situation. He claims he was guided by the souls of his older brother and Baji.

Mikey is blessed with an unparalleled charisma, noted by insiders and rival criminals alike, allowing him to keep his crew in line and earn the respect of other gang leaders. However, this charisma is a double-edged sword, as while he is able to rally and lead the entire criminal underworld under his banner, this power can easily be twisted and become incredibly destructive. By manipulating Mikey for evil, third parties are able to effectively use Mikey's charisma for their own ends, creating the most dangerous gangs possible in the present across multiple timelines, and ruling behind the scenes as the true leaders.

Mikey also demonstrates remarkable endurance and resilience. He's taken blows that would knock most people unconscious, yet he's still shaken himself off and continued fighting. Several times, even when knocked unconscious, he's quickly recovered. Even when he's been beaten and sustains potentially fatal injuries, his offensive capabilities remain undiminished, to the point of knocking down an opponent with a single headbutt, despite having been repeatedly hit with a pipe.

Unlike most criminals, Mikey has real martial arts experience, honed since childhood. He's also been recognized as a prodigy. Thanks to this, his combat instincts, agility, and reflexes are unmatched.

His signature finishing move is a high right roundhouse kick, thrown with blinding speed to the opponent's temple, catching all but the strongest opponents off guard. He then grabs the opponent's head and slams it into the ground. Almost everyone caught in this kick is instantly knocked out. This kick was also executed with Mikey's left leg.

Mikey is considered the strongest member of Toswa and perhaps the entire Tokyo Avengers series in combat. His epithet "Invincible Mikey" speaks to his strength and the reverence he holds among other groups. He's strong enough to incapacitate other members of the elite gang with a single kick, and his enemies often remark that they can't believe he's only a teenager.

His leg strength is such that he can not only lift the person holding him with one leg, but also use that same leg to deliver a devastating, instant-knockout blow to another opponent, instantly defeating both.

As the leader of Toswa, Mikey has absolute control over the gang members. His presence has the power to unite the entire gang, increasing each one's strength, making Toswa an incredibly formidable and dangerous opponent for its enemies.

Maiki has no parents, so he lived with his grandfather along with Emma and Shinichiro, who, Maiki says, acted like a parent to them. In 2003, he, along with Ryuguji, Baji, Mitsuya, Pachin, and Kazutora, founded the Toswa gang, with Maiki becoming its leader.

Even in the instances where Mikey does succumb to this darkness, there are contradictory aspects to his personality and behavior. He is seen to be attracted to and interested in a life of violence, committing numerous atrocities or otherwise allowing his enforcers to commit them without any visible signs of emotional reaction, acting with indifference and a cold face, and capable of injuring or even shooting his close friends. At the same time, he attempts to distance himself from his friends, likely knowing that he will not be able to control his impulses, attempting to separate himself from the central command of his gang, and even going so far as to attempt suicide in search of solace and a way to end the chaos he himself has created.

The central catalyst for this darkness is loss. When those close to Mikey suffer or die, it affects Mikey on a very personal level, to the point that he later claims that their souls are guiding him, to the surprise and concern of everyone present who doubts the veracity of these claims. As the death toll increases, Mikey's mental and emotional state deteriorates. While he is still able to act calm and normal, the effects of the growing darkness become increasingly apparent even to Mikey himself. It is through this loss that Mikey becomes vulnerable to manipulation, which subsequently leads to the degradation of his moral compass. In fact, in every timeline with a dark future, the cornerstone was laid by the death of those closest to Mikey, allowing third parties to fill the void in his heart with evil.

Mikey is usually a carefree teenager who enjoys joking and playing pranks on those he considers his close friends. He cares for them very much and is determined to protect their honor. He usually hides this with his carefree smile. Without the right people to guide him, he becomes corrupted, turning into one of the most heinous criminals of modern times. Takemichi makes it his mission to ensure that Mikey never strays from the right path again.
