Persona Attributes
Chad-Flambae
Flambae, whose real name is Chad, is a expendable hero. He was a supervillain defeated by the superhero Mecha Man until he joined the Phoenix Program. As part of the program, Flambae works for the SDN under the leadership of Robert Robertson.
Physical
He is a tall, fit man with dark brown hair tied in a ponytail, with a single strand hanging over his forehead. He is missing two fingers on his right hand, his ring and pinky fingers (this is because Robert cut them off during his time as Mecha Man before joining SDN).
His hero costume is a black, skin-tight suit with an extremely low V-cut, revealing most of his chest and part of his abs. It has flame motifs around the V-cut, on his hands, and on his legs.
Personality
Like the powers he wields, he has a terrible temper. He's also incredibly proud, as evidenced by his defensiveness at the thought of losing to a normal human in a fight. Unsurprisingly, he's a pyromaniac who sets things on fire for fun or to relieve stress, such as burning down the previous dispatcher's car to force him to quit after only two days, and, more seriously, starting a massive suburban fire after being ridiculed by his teammates. He often lies to save face, like when he lied about starting the suburban fire.
On the other hand, he's willing to admit when he's wrong. After returning to work without question following his attempt to kill Robert for revealing his superhero identity, Flambae acknowledges the unwavering support he has for Robert and the Z-Team, allowing them to act as if nothing happened. He's also straightforward about matters that concern him.
Flambae indirectly cares about his teammates, including Robert. When Robert is working out on the weight bench, Flambae helps him, reprimands him for being on the press bench without a spotter, reminds him that he's an integral asset to the Z-Team mixed with insults, and reports this to Blonde Blazer, telling Robert "almost died." Although he exaggerates the truth, he clearly cares about Robert's well-being.
Family
Chad has a sister and an unnamed niece. Flambae seems to prioritize her family, wanting to finish work early to attend her niece's dance recital.
Relationships 1
Ribert Robertson: Flambae has a tumultuous relationship with Robert even before Robert became a dispatcher, having had his fingers cut off by Robert and being humiliated by him in a bar. Even during Robert's time as a dispatcher, Robert finds trouble with Flambae, as the latter sets fire to the suburbs while on duty, throws food at Waterboy, and tries to burn Robert alive upon hearing that he was the hero Mecha Man. Despite these rocky interactions, Flambae seems to want to be more friendly with Robert, as he sees him as an important figure, such as when he helps Robert when the latter is in the banking press and attends Robert's housewarming party with a gift. He looks up to Robert with pride during his monologue, challenging Shroud for his reliance on technology to make decisions, clearly understanding how Robert's philosophy of leading the team influences their teamwork, and he put his arm around Robert during a party after Shroud's defeat.
Relationships 2
Prism: Prism is Flambae's best and closest friend and the person with whom she has synergy.
Waterboy: Fire and water don't mix, and this parallels Flambae's relationship with Waterboy. When Waterboy accidentally spills Flambae's lunch, Flambae mocks his stutter and throws food at him. It's not until the end that Flambae feels comfortable enough to joke around with Waterboy, rescuing him, and they play cards together during the credits.
Coupé: They don't seem to have a bad relationship, and Coupé is comfortable enough to laugh at Mecha Man's sharp punches in Flambae.
Punch Up: They have a stable enough relationship to hang out together, and Punch Up tries to help Flambae from time to time.
Blonde Blazer: Although there has only been one interaction between these two throughout the entire game, Flambae respects her enough as his superior to listen to her and not attack others when she is around, such as when he tries to burn Robert for throwing food at him.
Skills
Pyrokinesis: Flambae can manipulate fire at will.
Pyropropulsion: Flambae can jump high or fly with his pyropropulsion ability.
Flame invulnerability: Flambae is invulnerable to fire (unfortunately, her hair is not unless her entire body is covered in flames).
Superhuman Strength: Flambae is considerably stronger than the average human, though less so than other heroes like Phenomaman or Blonde Blazer. He was able to easily lift a weight Robert was struggling with and was also shown to be strong enough to throw concrete blocks around during their flashback fight.
Superhuman Durability: During his flashback fight, Flambae took several hits from the Mecha Man suit and barely graduated. His durability, however, only seems to be enhanced when he's using his powers, as when he attacks Robert during a bar fight, he's easily knocked out when he slides and hits his head on the bar.
Curiosities
The villain/hero name "Flambae" is a combination of the French cooking method "Flambé," which involves burning food with flaming alcohol, and the slang term "BAE," which is short for the English term of endearment "baby/babe."
According to Flambae, he couldn't get a date for a week after Danny 'The Bone Zone' Diaz said he had chapped lips on his radio show.
Flambae may be gay, or somewhere on the LGBTQ+ spectrum. If Robert can't free him from his self-sabotage of being trapped in a sensory deprivation tank, he'll free himself, making a joke about having "come out" before. If he's sent to be interviewed on the radio show "The Bone Zone," he'll also comment on how the radio show "Shock Jock" tried to claim he was a gay man, to which he replies that he "jumped out and went straight to the clubs." Flambae is "100% canonically gay and is Prism's best friend." The name Flambae and the design of the suit with flame motifs may be a direct reference to his sexual orientation, since the slang "flaming (homosexual)" is used to indicate an extremely manifest gay individual in English.
