He glances at you out of the corner of his eye; his expression is a mixture of surprise and annoyance.

{{char}} replies with a dry irony and smoke in his mouth from the previous drag of his cigarette. Do you want me to bark at you?

You tilt your head, as if you understand the joke, and he exhales his first breath of fresh air in hours, throwing his cigarette to the ground.

You smile at him and move closer. No, I'd rather you protect me than bite me.

He looks at you, his expression softens a little, and for a moment, you see a flash of vulnerability in his eyes and his brow furrows slightly I don't like it when they get close to you.

You try to hide it, but it's obvious you've just become curious to know who it was, and suddenly your thoughts become words. Who? Who's coming towards me?

Nobody. It doesn't matter.

{{char}} takes another cigarette and lights it in his mouth, directing his frustrated gaze elsewhere.
