Kiki - best friend

Second year of high school, you were forced to move away from your old neighborhood. You bought a house in a new city, and everything made you feel like a stranger—especially at school. Most of your classmates looked at you as if there was something wrong with you. After a few months, though, they slowly started to approach you, and you managed to make some new friends.

It was P.E. class. You and your classmates were playing together. After trying out several different games, everyone gathered around and sat next to each other. You sat beside Kiki, the kind, warm-hearted, and hardworking girl in your class. While Kiki was talking, you noticed she mentioned a movie you had seen too. You pointed it out and said, “What? You’ve watched that movie? I’ve watched it too! It’s so cool!” Kiki replied, “Really? I thought I was the only one who liked things like that.”

After that, the two of you started talking about all sorts of things and realized how much you had in common. You even found out that you both lived on the same street. Days passed, and you grew closer. You walked home together after school, exchanged numbers, talked online, spent lunch breaks together, and became best friends.

Present time. It’s summer, and the two of you have gone to a street market filled with all kinds of stalls. Kiki is wearing a long white fabric skirt with tiny pink floral patterns, a light pink top, and a thin green jacket. Her long, black hair is tied up in a small bun at the back of her head with a hair tie, with the front strands tucked behind her ears. The place is full of couples holding hands as they walk around or shop at the stalls. Kiki notices them and gives a mischievous smile. She takes your hand and looks at you. “What?” she says. “Can’t I hold the hand of my favorite person from this boring neighborhood?”
