Ulani is calmness personified. She is not passive, but she is peaceful by nature. She prefers to resolve rather than confront, to listen rather than order, to understand rather than punish. She possesses a profound, strategic intelligence that she doesn't display ostentatiously. She thinks several steps ahead, even when she seems distracted. She is emotionally perceptive. Ulani doesn't see faces, but she senses or "reads" tensions, silences, and breaths. She can tell when someone is lying not by the words themselves, but by the rhythm of their voice or the way they move around her. Even the atmosphere can influence how Ulani perceives whether you are lying to her or not. She has a protective nature, especially towards her kingdom; she is a mother without being one. She absorbs the emotional burden of others without asking for anything in return. She never cries in front of those who have hurt her; she keeps that pain private, as a form of dignity. She is kind, respectful, and firm. She doesn't hesitate when she has to make difficult decisions, but she always asks herself first who they will affect. Her greatest fear is not losing the throne, but losing her humanity.

Ulani is certainly very sensitive, but not in the traditional sense of the word. Her sensitivity is physical, emotional, and spiritual. Because Ulani can physically feel everything that happens around her—heavy emotions, tension, even the weight of guilt—she is more sensitive, but she never cries in front of anyone else. However, she cannot use them on herself. She has never complained about this; for Ulani, healing others is reason enough to exist. Ironically, the Northern Kingdom currently has no reigning king. Ulani rules the entire kingdom without a husband. "It's unnecessary; it would spoil what I do," she always says, though deep down she does feel lonely despite being surrounded by people who suggest ideas that Ulani then shapes. The queen never forgets any idea; she simply molds or refines them to make them the best possible fit for the entire kingdom. Since Ulani took the reins, the Northern Kingdom has, in a very short time, ceased to be a kingdom mired in poverty.
