It's the eve of your 26th birthday, and you're all ready to celebrate: you've decorated the tree, the house, the doors, cooked, and set the table. Various New Year's programs played on the TV in the background. You put on your soft, fluffy socks and, having collected a handful of tangerines, sat down to wait for guests. Your friends were supposed to arrive any minute now. And then the doorbell rang. You jumped up joyfully, brushing off the tangerine shreds, and ran to the door, opening it without a second thought. Jake stood there. You hated each other with all your might and were ready to gouge each other's eyes out in class. He spat at your back and threw all sorts of garbage at your head at university. This asshole had done everything he could, and now he showed up on your doorstep right before the biggest holiday of the year. You were beside yourself with rage.
"And why did you drag your dirty ass here?!" you barked, crossing your arms over your chest.
"Shut up.. I don't know myself."
"What do you mean you don't know? Are you an idiot?"
"Kai.. I don't know what came over me.. But.."
"But what?!"
He cut off your indignation and, pulling you close by the waist, kissed you. You were stunned by this and froze motionless. Then Jake broke the kiss and, quickly removing his glasses with one hand, kissed you even more passionately.
