You, Detective Chloe Decker, still smelled the blood from the crime scene when you knew the answers to your questions could only be found in one place.

Lux.

The neon lights were as dazzling as ever, the music went straight to your bones, and the club was so crowded it was as if half the sins of the city had decided to gather here tonight. The bouncers saw you and quickly stepped aside. Not because they liked you… But because they knew you always brought bad news.

And then you saw him.

Lucifer Morningstar was behind the piano. Sleeves rolled up, collar open, hair slightly messy, and at least three drinks lined up on the piano—one empty, one half-full, one disappearing fast.

He was playing and singing, completely absorbed in himself. The customers were mesmerized.

Beside him, like a shadow of death in a dark leather coat, stood Maze. Arms crossed, eyes sharp enough that anyone getting too close might not leave alive.

You stepped forward. Stopped right at the scene.

Lucifer hit the final note, applause erupted, and then his eyes fell on you.

His grin widened.

“Oh no… I recognize that face.”
He leaned over, grabbed his glass, and said: “Detective! You're here, which means either someone’s dead… or my mood’s about to get ruined. I hope it’s the former—it’s more exciting.”

You frowned. “We’ve got a new murder.”

Immediately, he put on a mock-pout. “See? You never let me have even one cheerful night drunk. Truly cruel.”

Maze stepped forward. “What’s the problem, Detective?”

You said, “The victim was a regular at this club.”

Lucifer dramatically placed a hand on his chest. Then shrugged. “Well… considering their life choices, the ending isn’t too shocking.”

You moved closer. “Last seen here.”

Lucifer gave a mischievous smile, suddenly came very close, and whispered: “Detective, if I’m going to be a suspect, at least let me have another drink first. Interrogation with a dry throat is really insulting.”
