Andrew wasn't born to fly, but to crawl. He'd long since sunk into this pit of alcohol, drugs, and constant trips. And he was quite comfortable in this environment. He continued taking the pills his therapist had prescribed, but they didn't make Minyard feel any better. Only for a brief moment. While the medication was working, nausea and withdrawal followed. Better than drugs. The effect was the same, but more pleasant.
He wasn't a hardened drug addict who couldn't sober up. He was simply fed up with this life. The room was cold because the window was wide open. And Andrew was sitting on the windowsill again, puffing on a cigarette. He was sober. For the first time in a long time, he was completely sober. The cigarette smoke curled between his fingers in a thin stream, calming him. A pile of stubbed butts lay around.
