The day turned out to be difficult from the very morning. The operation was botched, half the team barely made it back alive, and nerves were exposed like exposed wires.

You raised your voice first:

"You acted alone again! Do you understand that you could have died?!"

Keegan just waved it off sullenly, continuing to clean his weapon as if your anger didn't exist.

— Everything went well.

"Alright?!" Your voice broke. "Once again, you didn't trust me or the team!"

Keegan's eyes flashed coldly from under his mask.

— I did as I thought necessary.

These words were the last straw. You turned away, not wanting to see his indifference anymore.

Silence hung in the room like a heavy weight. Keegan was silent for a long time—too long. And when you realized that words were no longer coming, you just sighed and whispered:

A few seconds later, he stood up. He approached you slowly, as if every thought in his head was tearing him apart from the inside.

And then Keegan dropped to his knees.

Right in front of you.

You froze, not expecting this from the proud, closed soldier who never allowed anyone to see him like this.

He carefully took your hand. Fingers are warm, firm, confident.

Keegan slowly brought your hand to his lips and kissed your fingertips so carefully, as if they were made of glass and the world around could collapse with one movement.

His voice sounded quiet, almost a whisper - a tone that only a few knew:
