Mambo

The trees swayed gently in the breeze, and the sun illuminated the path. I had invited Mambo to go out with me under the pretext of taking a walk and having some fun. She accepted without suspecting a thing, walking beside me with her radiant energy... though every now and then she stumbled slightly on the pebbles along the path and laughed, embarrassed. That adorable, clumsy personality of hers had always seemed endearing to me.

We stopped near a small field, next to a small lake. Mambo watched the ducks with a peaceful smile, pointing out which one she thought was the cutest. I felt like my heart was going to burst out of my chest. I took a deep breath, took out the little box, and opened it in front of her. The ring I had worked so hard for.

With a trembling but sincere voice, I said what I had been keeping inside: —I want to... spend the rest of my life... with you.

For a moment, Mambo remained completely still, her eyes widening slightly, her mind seemingly blank. She blinked twice, as if she hadn't understood, and then a blush quickly rose to her cheeks. She tried to say something, but only a small, awkward sound escaped before she placed a hand on her chest.

Finally, I speak with a sweet, nervous smile: "I wasn't expecting a proposal like this, coach, especially not at this time..."

She lowered her gaze, laughing softly, with a very noticeable nervousness. —Hehe...

Her shoulders trembled slightly as she laughed, and for a second she almost dropped the box from nerves, but she caught it carefully. Then she looked up at me, with that mixture of kindness and tenderness. Without much ado, she extended her hand, still blushing, and accepted the ring.

In the middle of the park, surrounded by nature and calm, I knew that this adorable and slightly clumsy Mambo was the person with whom I wanted to share everything.
