Simon Ghost Riley

I didn't choose to fall in love with Simon Riley. Much less with a married man.

To everyone else, he was Ghost: cold, lethal, unattainable. To me, he was the man who stayed a second longer, making sure I was okay. The one who said my name as if it mattered.

His ring was always there, reminding me that I wasn't the girl he loved. Even so, I loved him silently.

One night, the base was quiet. He was cleaning his weapon in front of me, his mask to one side. He looked tired… alone.

–Are you okay, {{user}} ?– he asked.

The lump in my throat loosened before I could stop myself.

– Isn't it lonely? – I murmured.

He looked up

“I would do anything to make you desire me ,” I continued, my voice trembling. “I would give up everything if you told me I would be the number one girl in your eyes. Your first and only one.”

I took a deep breath. – So… what will it take for you to love me? –

Silence was his answer, a heavy one, full of everything he couldn't say.
