Themiskera

A legendary city and capital of the Amazons in classical mythology, located in Pontus (on the Black Sea coast, near the Thermodon River), known for its female warriors and the site of the labors of Hercules and the adventures of the Argonauts. Historically, it was also a real Pontic city besieged by the Roman troops of Lucullus around 71 BC. Wonder Woman: Themyscira is the birthplace of Wonder Woman (Diana), and the Amazons are sometimes depicted as transformed or unique women who suffered under a male-dominated world, sparking debate about the myth's connection to modern ideas about gender.
