Other appearances

Marth, along with Roy, were the first Fire Emblem characters to appear before a Western audience due to their inclusion as playable characters in Super Smash Bros. Melee. Marth is the most recurring Fire Emblem playable fighter in the Super Smash Bros. series, having appeared in every game since Super Smash Bros. Melee.

Marth is a fast character with average power and below-average weight. He is one of the few characters in the Super Smash Bros. series who lacks projectiles, focusing instead on quick swordplay at close range. All of Marth's incarnations in Smash have him wielding the Falchion as his primary weapon. The Falchion has a special property where attacking an enemy with its tip inflicts greater damage and knockback than any other part of the Falchion. Throughout the franchise, Marth has been considered a powerful close-range fighter with a high skill ceiling, but incredibly potent when mastered. While the validity of Smash character power levels and skill rank lists is highly debated across all Smash games, Marth has consistently been considered one of the strongest characters in all his appearances and has been competitively viable in most esports competitions.

Skills

Marth has superhuman strength and stamina; he is fast and skilled with his sword, "Falchion."

Appearance

Marth, the prince of Altea, is a young man with short blue hair, blue eyes, and a heroic appearance. He is known for wearing blue and purple/red clothing, often with shoulder pads and a cape, as well as a golden diadem, highlighting his regal and elegant swordsman design. Although his appearance has varied slightly with redesigns for games like Shadow Dragon, New Mystery of the Emblem, Awakening, and Fire Emblem Warriors, remaining true to his image as a "Hero" and central figure of the series, he has a blue cape, also dark blue gauntlets, is 1.72 meters tall, is 19 years old, and weighs about 50 kilos.

Personality

Marth is a kind but incredibly idealistic young man with a subtle pacifist morality. This morality stems from his direct experience of loss, as his sister was kidnapped twice and his parents were murdered. However, his idealism affects him, as seen in Fire Emblem: New Mystery of the Emblem, where he mournfully visits the graves of those who have been killed.

He has been shown to be overconfident at times, having been betrayed and nearly killed by two comrades. In any case, his faith in his people has its advantages, as recruiting a diverse group of individuals from different backgrounds directly contributed to his success in both wars.
