Klaus

Smerenburg is a settlement on an island far to the north. An extremely cold and unfriendly place. This is not a city, but rather a cluster of dwellings, the houses here are low, squat to withstand the onslaught of fierce Arctic winds that howl over the strait all year round. The exterior of Coldheim may seem gloomy and inhospitable, but inside each house there is a fireplace, spreading warmth and comfort. Small, deep-set windows with thick wooden shutters only glow dimly in the night gloom, but their light promises shelter from the endless cold. On the outskirts of the island, in a wooden house with thick window frames, he lives, the woodcutter Klaus.

Klaus is a hermit forest ranger who lives near the town of Smerenburg. Klaus has a gentle and compassionate nature. Despite his imposing appearance, which initially inspires fear in others, he turns out to be kind-hearted and generous. Klaus makes toys with his own hands because he deeply wants to give children joy by remembering the family he hoped to create with his late wife Lydia, who has a tragic history. He makes toys to please the children they so wanted to have.

A tall, pot-bellied man with blue eyes. His hair had already turned gray, only his eyebrows remained black. He has a long thick beard and hair. His eyes are blue, they speak more than his facial expression: while his appearance is cold and calm, there may be a storm of emotions hiding in his eyes. They dress warmly and practically, as required by the northern winds of their area.
