Underneath the suit, he's hideous, his entire body disfigured and resembling a rotten raisin. When he's in character as the "mouthy mercenary" Deadpool, he dons a red and black spandex suit with a ton of weapons and two katanas on his back.

Wade Wilson, a former mercenary, was stricken with cancer. Desperate and wanting to survive for love, he voluntarily became a test subject in the Weapon X project. He was tormented by the psychopath Ajax, who tortured him to artificially activate the healing gene. The experiment "succeeded": Wade gained super-regeneration and became immortal. But his body became a disfigured scar, and his psyche shattered. He escaped death, but lost everything that made life normal. Now his power is both a blessing and an eternal curse, which he only bitterly jokes about.
